It's pretty hard at the beginning of the game with the Racers as all of the decent British players already have clubs.
Maybe try Geoff O'Hara as a solid-ish D-man who starts as a free agent. I think maybe Lee Braithwaite is a free agent as well. Mark Williams is another free agent.
You should be able to get Matthew Myers from Bakersfield at some point as well, he never gets played by the Condors and is a British player - he got released to free agency pretty early on in my season. Maybe David Phillips if he leaves Rockford Ice Hogs - he's another British player.
Some good British players are:
Colin Shields
Ashley Tait
Jonathan Phillips
Robert Dowd
Gary Wishart
Chris Wiggins
David Clarke
Jonathan Weaver
Danny Meyers
Neil Liddiard
Stephen Murphy & Stevie Lyle are the best 2 netminders
Jared Owen
Mark Galazzi is a free agent - he should be retired but I missed him out when updating the game
Prospects:
Steve Lee
Mark Garside
Luke Ferrara
Jack Watkins
Ben Davies
Robert Farmer
Iain Bowie
Robert Lachowicz
Nathan Salem
Not all of those will turn out as great players but I'll leave that up to you
There's probably more I've missed out as well but I can't remember all of the potentials from when I changed them.
Imports are important but there's also quite a few of them about, just look for ECHL/CHL players and maybe a few AHL players. You can also look into Europe as well

no, i just have it in paint...dunno what to do with it now lol
Another Question:
The London Racers are not in the British cup, is this hardwired into the game, or can I qualify for it next year, if so...how?

Hard wired, I tried to get around it but couldn't get them or Braehead in it. Manchester & Basingstoke are in it instead. No one really cares about the Cup anyway
Once you have you image in Paint, save it to my documents. Then go to
www.imageshack.us, click on browse and find your saved picture. Then click on upload and once it's uploaded it'll give you a link. Post that link in your reply

I use my British teams to try to get players drafted into the NHL.
I scout like crazy to find the best and absolute youngest prospects from obscure countries as I can - a certain Latvian goaltender has found his way onto my team before...

I started a league with the Racers on the 2.0 database and my british centre turned out to be the bright young thing of British hockey, 36 year old Les Millie. He still had points than one of my imports by October though. I concentrated on getting a decent first couple of lines of imports and then just filling a line with whatever Brits were left. So far I'm 6th in the league.
Calv, I'm sure Mark Galazzi is playing for Bracknell Hornets - he's in the squad list for them in Powerplay anyway, along with his brother James.

Can I ask how good does Jacko get? I know him personally you see, would be great to see him rock the game
