How to "count" Current Ability?

Post by MXD »

Hi,

I'd just like to know how can I "determine" the Current Ability of a player.

In other words, I want to make sure the "skills" I give to a players "fits" his CA.

I'm trying to "mod" something I want to make sure I'm entering skills that fits with the CA.

Best Regards, Mx

There was a chart around here somewhere. I don't have the time to dig up the thread. I had it copied in a file that I saved though...

CA Average Minimum Maximum
10 4.5 1 10.5
20 5 1 11
30 5.5 1 11.5
40 6 1 12
50 6.5 1 12.5
60 7 1 13
70 7.5 1.5 13.5
80 8 2 14
90 8.5 2.5 14.5
100 9 3 15
110 9.5 3.5 15.5
120 10 4 16
130 10.5 4.5 16.5
140 11 5 17
150 11.5 5.5 17.5
160 12 6 18
170 12.5 6.5 18.5
180 13 7 19
190 13.5 7.5 19.5
200 14 8 20

Sorry, the formatting doesn't line up but you should be able to figure it out still. First column is the CA, second is the average attribute ability, third is the minimum attribute ability, and final is the max attribute ability. Of course, this doesn't apply to everything. Certain mental attributes stay constant. Still, these are a good general rule of thumb to apply.

I'm starting to edit Finnish Mestis players because the current player attributes aren't in a same page with real life. But I have a problem when it comes to ability because I just can't understand what is that term. I've tried to sum attributes in every possible way but none of them matches with the ability number. For example if I have player with current ability 90 and potential ability 110 and I put all attributes 15 (example!) what is the meaning of ability then?

So if someone even understands my problem, it would be nice if you explained it to me .

For a good idea of what player's CA should be, look at some of the existing players already in the league they're playing in. That should give you a good idea of the range of CAs you should use. Then use the chart I posted above to see what kind of numbers to use for their attributes. I don't know if there is a way to count a player's CA by adding up certain attributes but you can get a good idea of what kind of values to give a player's attributes based on his CA. If a player has a CA in the 120's and is an average skater, you should give his skating skills a number somewhere around 10. If his defense is really poor, try giving checking something around a 4. If his passing is really exceptional (among the best at his level) you could give him a 16. I wouldn't give a player with a 120 CA more than a 16 in any attribute.

Does that make sense?
