i have marc andre fleury on my team but completley forgot about making a qualifying offer to him untill the final day to retain his rights so i made an offer and pressed continue and the next news message said he has left the team as an unrestricted free agent. now i have no chance of getting him back just because i forgot, he was the biggest prospect on my team. i tried downloading a saved game editor to put his rights back to my team but for some reason it will not let me edit that section. what can i do, i am three years into the game and dont want to start the whole game again but thats the only optoion.

You can download the previous version of the pre-game editor, 1.5, which allows you to change players' rights. The newest version, 1.6, does not. Do some searching here and you might find it, otherwise look around online or I can email it to you if you want.

The pre-game editor does NOT work for saved games. I can't remember if the saved game editor allows you to change player rights. I tend to stay away from editing saved games because I don't want to risk file corruption.

Or you could just move on and think of it as a challenge. :dunno:

Or if you only pressed continue once, try signing him. Has he already signed with someone else?

i already finished bottom for the last two seasons because i was rebuilding my team and only just have got a contending team together with goods draftees. now i have reimer or pogge to choose from as a number one goalie for the season :/ looks like im at risk being fired to me, and i have only pressed continue once the problem is he wants 4 million per season and i dont have the cap space for him, when i had his rights he only wanted 2 million.

Well, has he signed for another team? Else you just have to put a bet on him and you might get him, fleury is quite a fan of the penguins so he will probably accept it.

You could always make some trades to clear up some cap space too.

Sorry, I misread your post and didn't realize you wanted to use a saved game editor. You can only use a pregame editor to change rights.....

If push comes to shove, you can cheat a little and make yourself the GM of the team he signs with and trade with yourself. If it were me, I'd consider it part of the "role-playing" aspect of the game and move on from the mistake.
