Help with Draft Picks.....

Hello, I am recently new to EHM 07. Yes I have been living under a rock for the last 5 years apparantly. :dunno:

What a great game! I usually play be a GM on NHL12 just to trade and draft and such. So anyways, I am having a problem, and I have browsed the 07 guide and a little of the 05 guide, but I can't find the answer to this anywhere.. I have drafted let's say, Patrick Kane and he shows up in my reserve list. But when I "approach to sign," it gives me no options to sign him. It just tells me that "this player expects this role" So then I set his role to "hot young prospect" and approach to sign again, and it tells me the same thing over again. Is this normal because he's still in junior? or is something messing up in my game? I am also unable to sign ANY free agents, but can offer them a tryout. Once again if I click the approach to sign button, it says the same as above. I did try to sign Lindros, and it said the board won't allow it because of his age.

Any thoughts and/or solutions would be much appreciated

The first thing I think of is that you are up against the salary cap, and the reason no one will sign is because you don't have any money free. Look at your team finances and maybe take a screenshot of it for us.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long, but I'm running a bootcamp macbook for windows, and for the life of me, can not get "print screen" to work :S

Anyways, I've figured it out, it was just that I had to click on what the player wanted his status on the team to be before he would sign there. hahahaha.

I'm pretty new to the game so I guess I overlooked how simple that would be to figure out :P

But thanks anyways guys, I appreciate you all taking the time to try to help me figure this out. For the record, my team is the Oilers, and its my second year as GM and the board is super happy with me because my player salaries are just 39,000,000 and I've got lots of rookies in the system. However my team totally sucks ( 7-20-4) at the moment. hahahaha. Well hopefully my rookies will pan out and in 2-3 years I'll have a solid team. Just like the current Oilers rebuild hopes. Oh, do you guys ever have problems with the coach changing your lines all the time? I've got Shea Weber as my 3rd pairing right now, but the coach keeps scratching him to play Francois Beauchemin. I don't want to coach the games myself but would like to keep my good players in the lineup. I rage fired Craig Mactavish because of that, haha, ](*,)

You can stop your Coach from doing this...at the top of your screen click on "General Manager" and you`ll be given a list of choices...click on "General Manager Options" - then you will be able to select a number of relevant options, including whether the Coach can change Tactics/Team Selection/Lines

:-)

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding one of my picks... he's currently playing in College with North Dakota as he'd committed to them before the draft, but he was taken in the WHL draft and his rights are still held by Seattle. AFAIK North Dakota isn't one of the better collegiate hockey programs (but I could be wrong, i'm in the UK after all) so i'm worried that he won't develop too well there - so would I be better served to sign him up now, so I can send him to the WHL next year? He just turned 18 a couple months ago and IMO would be a top-6 forward in the WHL so....?

I have a screenshot and would put it up for ya, but I don't know how... do i NEED to sign up for photobucket / imageshack or is there some way I can post it here straight from my hard drive? :help:

In any case, i'm using Manimal's 4.2b rosters, and the guy's name is Alex Kerfoot, if you want to check him out. (I realise he might be a generated player, and he might have developed differently in other games, but that's the best I can do for now until I can get my screenie posted)

North Dakota is one of the better collegiate hockey programs in the United States but in EHM college hockey does not develop players nearly as well as Canadian Juniors will. I usually let my better prospects develop in college, however, because they tend to do so regardless of the league they play in. You could also sign him and send him to the WHL. It is really up to you.

he's a devils low round pick, I played with him I think
