How Much Would You Pay Ed Belfour??

With the media/agent/injury circus that is Ed Belfour burning bridges on the way out of Toronto as we did out of Chicago oh so many years ago when we used to refer to his missing 5 game stretches as "Back Spasm Vacations" I once again reaffirm my stance that Belfour is an absolute raging jackass...
Check out the details of his latest dealings with Toronto in this article by McKenzie at TSN:
http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/bob_mckenzie.asp?id=159824
So, from the time he signed his contract in the summer of 2004, to the time he will officially leave the Leafs in the summer of 2006, Belfour will have received, by our count, more than $11 million

Good point Minstrel!!!
I saw this on TSN.com on McKenzies collumn and also in the videos and its absolutely incredible that Belfour is receiving that amouth of money for doing....well, not much lately!!
He certainlly WAS a huuuge goalie, but his rice has passed (as we say here in Spain) and IF he will sign with somebody then it will be surely for a lot less that what hes obtaining right now.
Here again comes the question if a timed retirement isnt better than playing too long in the big league....

I would pay him 3 million to come back to Toronto next year.
On the condition he pays the team 35 millionish.

I'd give him 2 dollars and a tuna fish sandwich. He was a pain even in Dallas.

Well Eddie should have a lot of great offers if GMs are as generous and creative as us
He's just to me always been a "good at what cost" guy and I'm not even talking about this rediculous fleecing of Toronto he pulled off. He's just one of those guys that costs your team to have in terms or yeah he is/was a great goalie but he's also unreliable, a loose cannon, prone to be maced in the hallway of your hotel for getting in a fight with security then arrested (as he did in Dallas), hates and refuses to work with any backup since they are so inferior to him (a huge issue when he was in Chicago) and quickly half your team will hate him.
Just all that baggage is a high price to pay without considering monetary matters. Eddie the Ego is like Barry Bonds in slightly less protective armor.

According to the papers, he was more than happy to hand the reins over to Tellqvist this year, so maybe hes matured a little.

I'd pay a nickel and a used puck.
The guy is 40, has serious injury problems, and is massively overpriced. I'll pass on that everyday.

I'd happily get paid millions of dollars to not work too

Eddie got 5 mil to not even come to the rink over the lockout year; probably decided the whole actually having to play thing was overrated

Eddie's now 'elected' to get back surgery.
And hes confident he'll be ready to play next year.

Well, the important thing is his health. If he doesn't have his health what has he got? I mean besides more money that assorted small villages will collectively make in their lifetimes
