Well,i'd like to know what are the things you're lookin' at about your next opponent before beginning a game...
Personnaly,i'm used to watch the scout report, their players mentionned in this report, and, before droping the puck, which goalie they've dressed for the game and what tactic they will use against me. This is what i ALWAYS do...
I also often watch the "team comparaison" in the "next game" section, the standings, and sometimes their home/away record.
What about you?

I don't look at any of it.

Me either really
The only time I ever bother scouting the other team, or changing my strategy to get an advantage is during playoffs.

Me too.
The only time I feel the need to even consider it is the playoffs, or in some special cases such as a game that could decide if I make the playoffs or not...

I usually check out who they have playing on their top line, just so I can set up who my individual match-ups are going to be for my checking line.
I haven't found a real rock-paper-scissors strategy system for countering another teams strategy, so I kind of stopped worrying about that. I figured it's better to just play the system that has worked for my team.

Exactly. Players will get confused if one game you want them playing hardcore defense and not taking a single penalty, and the next game all out attacking, and then the following week there nothing but a bunch of goons to you.

And then they'll start saying that you never take them anywhere nice anymore

then it's nothing but work work work

I usually take a look on the other team on the "next game" screen.
But I have to say that I dont do any major changes in the strategy....
BTW, how do u guys play the game??? I usually have it on only highlights. Does somebody of u guys watch the whole game?? I have it done only in the playoffs, but it takes too long, lol!!

I always watch my game with fast clock and very fast commentary and it whips through pretty well... I used to do only highlights but it was giving me ulcers

Every time after a gap that it starts running a chunk of commentary you pretty much know someone is about to score so every time the opponent showed up with the puck in my end I was already

so I do full commentary now, takes a bit to get used to stuff flying past so fast but you get a better sense of how your team especially defensively did as a whole I think.

Maybe I will give it a try!!!
I also thought that it can be interesting to see how is your team doing during the whole game, not only in the highlights...
