Printing/Exporting Files

I did a search and did not find anything, I am hoping someone can help me with this. I am trying to export my scouting reports so I can keep track of the leagues my scouts have scouted so far. I understand that when you click on the "Export As" button, it saves the file to the place you entered in the preferences section. However, no matter what I do (HTML, Text file, etc.), the file is being saved as an audio file. I have no idea why this is happening and want to fix it.

Has anyone here had this happen and/or can offer me some advice?

What's the filename, incl. file extension? Do you have some example?
What OS do you use? PC or Mac?

I guess it's something with your registry or file associations. Perhaps you've got for some reason *.htm files associated with your audio player.

My first impression is the same as McQwak's; it must be a file association problem.

By the way, I find that HTML is the best format in which to export from EHM as you can easily copy and paste it into Excel (I think you have to click on Paste As -> Unicode or something similar). If you save as a TXT file then you lose all formatting.

The filename is whatever I name it (usually the scout's name or something). The extension is supposed to be .txt, but it appears to be .pls, and it is actually being saved as an audio file. I have a PC and am running Windows XP Home.

I prefer HTML as well, and use it for my game files and it works fine. But no matter what I do with the scout searches, they always save as an audio file. No idea why this is happening, it is recent because I remember saving text files from this game in the past.

Hm, wierd... Can you edit or view it using text editor? Notepad or Total Commander editor or something similar like that. What's inside?

Got the same problem here (Win XP), the file always has the extension .pls, doesn't matter if I try to export to text or html format. The only way I can save a scout report (as .txt) is when I choose Print -> Current List on Screen and then save the printout. It's also useless to try view the .pls file with text editor or browser.

Registry and file associations are ok, nothing seems to be wrong there either.

Can you change the extension to .txt and open it by double-clicking?
I still suspect the operating system that changes just the file extension, not data inside.

You can but there's nothing readable there, just a bunch of random characters. Same thing happens when you try to change the extension to .html

I don't know how to solve it then, sorry.

According to this "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PLS_(file_format)", PLS file should be readable in text editor. It's not a binary file.

Oh well, thanks anyway. Guess I will just have to do it the hard way.....

Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but the problem I am having is related only to scouting reports. I can print my shortlist and game results to either a text or html with no problems. It is apparently just the "export as" feature under scouting reports that is not cooperating.
