I used a customized database in which I moved all teams in the NHL to South Africa, renamed them after World Cup football teams, renationalized Ovechkin to Cameroon, Green to Lithuania...
Then I made sure I altered the 7th round picks so that they would actually be 3rd round picks and made sure that any free agent was available to draft.
Then...just to top things off I made sure that Alex was 14 years old, and Green was 8'3 295 lbs. Oh and I renamed him Byfuglien.

Gosh darn golly.... I'm durn near pretty much speechless

Lidas 2.3 and he wasn't injured. To be exact he only missed 8 games in his last 4 seasons. I guess it's because his contract was running out. But he was a RFA and instead of the 4.5 million he earned before he signed for 1.7 million now. Totally unrealistic, but I like it
Yep. And I have that Dave Murray guy I posted in the Regen Thread coming up, and he looks even better, plus I just signed him to a 4 year extension worth 6 million.
Oh, look at that, Caps just traded Semin ingame for a 5th round pick from Blue Jackets.
No wonder that they didn't accept my 1st rounds and star players if they get offers like THAT
alexob18 wrote:Haha I've seen some wacky trades before... but that one's insane. Once saw Toews go for a 3rd... way to go Tallon (it was him as GM then).
Not really a trade, but I got Kane as a RFA from the Hawks for $600k a year for 3 years. They didn't match.
Jeff Finger and Joey Macdonald for Brad Boyes. I don't know why St. Louis did that one, but I'm thinking of starting over cuz it feels kind of cheap when I know Finger is a bottom pairing defenceman and Macdonald will only be a backup...
I don't understand why Finger holds so much value when you first start. In another game, I made an offer for Dustin Penner and the AI countered with Jeff Finger and a 4th round pick for him. I obviously accepted that, but I was stunned when they countered with that.
Mattias Ritola and Daniel Larsson for Jack Johnson.
7 years later i can say it was my best trade ever. Ritola never made it to the NHL (playing SEL) and Larsson is AHL goalie, while Jack Johnson is my best (and one of the best defenders in the whole NHL).
Yannick Weber, Ryan White, and the right to Steve Quailer from the Habbies.
For.
Jordan Eberle and EDM's 1st round pick.
So far I'm only in my second season as the Habbies GM, using the Lidas rosters, so who knows how Eberle will turn out but still, I loved getting him for basically a bag of pucks.
Not a trade but I signed Lucic to an $2M offer sheet. In his second season with the Habs, he's now 18G 18A 145PIMs 146Hits and a 9.18 rating in 33 games. That's easily worth the picks.
To Atlanta (me): Sharks' 1st rounder in 2009, 3rd rounder in 2008
To San Jose: The rights to Nathan Lieuwen and Troy Rutkowski
I was originally trying to dump someone for their 3rd round pick, and they counter offered this, so I had to take it.
Both Lieuwen and Rutkowski are looking like permanent AHL players, while the Sharks' first rounder ended up being the #2 overall pick. The 3rd rounder was traded off in a package for another first rounder in '08, used to select Joe Morrow who is now playing for me.

i was able to sign Lucic to an offersheet as well. He's a feature on my 3rd line with 6 goals and 10 assists and an 8.27AvR in 22 games this year. Well worth a 3rd Round pick and $885,000 Salary.
Some interesting ones i've seen the AI do are:
Anton Volchenkov for Jamie Arniel and Yuri Aleksandrov
Both players Ottawa received are career AHLers for a very solid 2nd pairing Dman in Volch.

JVR for Brett Lebda
Lucic finished the season 32G - 43A - +31 - 330 PIM - 258 SOG, 415 Hits 30 Fights (won 21) and a 9.29 rating.
The AI in mine seems to be set to trade for picks. The one steal I saw it make was Colorado getting Tuomo Ruutu from Carolina for Darcy Tucker.
An odd one, was Philly trading Simon Gagne to Chicago for Marian Hossa.
Pronger is traded yearly for a package of 3rd round picks and/or prospects. I'm in my 4th season and so far he's been with the Flyer, Stars, Wild, Maple Leafs, Thrashers and Sharks. He spends about 50 games with each team.
