I heard Savard had a list of like 5 teams, almost entirely in the East, that he would be willing to move to. Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Chicago, and another, if I remember correctly. That makes it quite tricky to trade him since most of those teams really don't have room under the cap or do have the assets to send our way.Danny wrote:Both Thomas and Savard have officially waived their NTCs for certain unnamed teams. Rumour has it Boston's only gonna ship them out in a package, maybe a 3-way, and Chiarelli said he's not opposed to trading within the division if he gets a decent return there.
I hadn't heard about a list of teams on Thomas' part but I keep hearing Philadelphia as the main team interested. I guess they were working on Nabokov but word has it that those talks weren't going well, he wants too much. I've heard Hartnell suggested as coming in return for Thomas. As much as I hate the guy (when he's on another team), I think I'd do that deal.
I hadn't heard anything about Thomas and Savard ONLY being dealt together. That would make trading them especially difficult.
I've heard that he's been compared to a poor man's Rafalski. He plays college hockey in Boston, so the team has had plenty of opportunity to see him play. Maybe they really saw something they liked? Still, like you, I'm skeptical about trading for a 5'9" defenseman.Danny wrote: Meanwhile, the Bruins have traded Sobotka to the Blues for some undersized college Dman![]()
Chiarelli is in NHL10 mode.
