special bonus: 4 cards for nhl 2005 draftpack (fayne, clackson, hagemo and bertram)

hope you like it.....

now that i'm pausing my challenge-career (no playoff luck  ), i'm searching for another project 8-)

This is a great set! I had been noticing a few players here and there that I thought should have had cards and upon scrolling through the set I noticed they'd all been coverered :joy:

:notworthy:

There is always the distinctly not fun matter of going back into the original NHL set and updating pictures for Heatly in Ottawa certain Bruins on certain aquatic-themed teams that shall remain nameless :-p That kind of thing. :dunno:

I found Malkin in the NHL T-Z pack, but its by accident cuz I thought Malkin should be at E since it's "Evgeni Malkin". I found him under the name "Yevgeni Malkin". And I still cant find Ovechkin. Is his name misspelled too? help needed, thx.

You could just download the two pics that D88 linked to, above.

The problem with cyrillic is that there are numerous ways of translating the words into our Roman (is that it?) alphabet. Hence it could be spelled Evgeni or Yevgeni.

I am the responsible of changing Yevgeni to Evgeni. Why?
We could use 3600 hours to discute about this but to speak roughly there are some standards to transliterite (that's the correct word, not translate, because a translation is a translation, a transliteration is more like a transcription into another format, in this case from cyrillic to latin, not roman once again). The more commons are the slavic and the anglosaxon one, in which the anglosaxon can comprehend the "Ye" in the initial because of the difference between the E (pronounced ye when it starts a word) and the э that it's always pronounced "e" roughly like a in sam, while the "normal" e pronounced e, ye or i depending on the stress and where the word is placed.
However, to cut the head to the bull like we say in italy, I swapped Yevgeni with Evgeny because Yevgeni has an horrible looking :p

Thx for the two pics D88, but I found both Ovechkin in misc facepacks! :joy:

Another thing, regarding your other project, the staff face pack, many of the staff arent showing up in the game even though there ARE pictures of them in the data/pictures/nonplayers folder. I found out it is due to the fact that their birth dates are not correct. I just want to suggest you might want to look into this when making v2. :-)

that depends on which database you use: original, unfaking 1.0, 2 or 3.
(with every patch or database change some birthdays change)

i do all my cardprojects with unfaking 1.0 and patch 2.1.3.

thats a problem i cannot solve. i will not save a card 3 times with 3 different birthdates. (the same in the draftpacks: players that were covered before (in other packs) are not done again)

greets, D88

Yeah, the dates thing is a wildcard and I actually suspect it may be an editor bug that is scrambling some birthdates because there are cases where the original EHM db has one date, unfaking 1.0 has another and another of the db projects has a third.

The best a card creator can do when doing thousands of cards, (I have 8,000+ but I know some of that is duplicates...) is go by the dates as is in the game they are working with and given the d/l counts and that we allow people to use 1.0 for Challenges even Unfaking 1.0 is a good choice.

You can help by posting card date information in the "The Card/Pics Dates and Names Error Thread" that is a sticky topic here in the Graphics forum. Otherwise the best you can do is if you know someone has a card match it with the date they display in your game. It's not that difficult.

Wow, guess what! Since I recently downloaded the unfaking db I was trying it out with a lot of new games, and I shockingly found out that the birthdates of some staff changes in differernt games. I dont know about players but definitely for staff. In one game I changed one staff's bd to match in the game so his face would show but when I started a new game his face disappeared! :-o It was then I found out his bd changed! The birth year didnt change but the day and month did.

I guess there wouldnt be any way to create a perfect staff facepack eh?

:-k That is annoying... since the game doesn't come with staff pics I'd guess that is why the error wasn't caught. I'd guess it has to do with that year of birth is important to keep the retirement order in line (so teams don't end up with a 26 year old Pat Quinn...) but the day/month may be affected by the much higher percentage of staff that are auto-generated at the beginning of the game. Hopefully this one can be knocked out for the next version.
