Sure, that a ton of players to add, 10 years worth, but it would be an epic database. It would also work with the current NHL league structure. That's as far back as you can go without having league structure problems. Of course, we didn't have a salary cap back then but I'm sure it could be made to work.
Salary Cap is not a problem. We can just erase the salary cap in the con_fig file=).

And I think just move all birthyears back with the aging tool by 6 years should be a good start. And then work from there. The nicest thing is that almost all the younger players in the db would be in the game so we could draft them along the road. Of course PA has to be change on many, many of the players.

But I would love to have my hands on an 18 year old Marian Gaborik and build around.=)

In this case we need to remove the NHL rights on every player and lower the rep on the NHL to say 1000. The just make the NHL teams empty (without players on the roster) then the NHL would only be there without problems.

Exactly, in my opinion it would make an interesting database.

So I'm thinking about restarting my attempt at the 2000/1 rosters.

Would you guys want the player movement completely random?

I want nothing random at all. Everything should be like it was back then with the exception for the hard-coded parts

Uhg, was in a rush and didn't type out what I wanted haha!

I meant Junior player movement from 2000 to present. Tavares, Kane, Hall, Hedman, etc.

Like how the UUDB works for the College players?

Preferably I wouldn't do that.

If you are talking about pre-setting the transfers to happen after the start of the game then, no I would not like that. Put the players were they were at the start of the 00-01 season and leave it at that

What about using the tool to make everyone a free agent and changing the NHL reputation to 0?

I think it would be enough to set an age limit to the NHL

I've tried this to set NHL age limit to 1 and replace all NHL teams so that players are free agents. Tested it a few times and after a couple of months the game crashes. I also did the same to CHL (Canadian Hockely League) because I wanted that European juniors will stay in Europe.

I've got some crazy idea: I haven't seen any floorball videogames so I think if it's possible to make floorball db to Ehm? Deleting all players, changing team/league names (Sm-league would be Salibandyliiga, Elitserien would be that Swedish league and NHL would be somekind of a superleague of floorball (National Floorball League?)) and then making floorball players.. :-)

I'm very interested on that project, so can somebody tell me, is there any easy and fast way to delete all players? :-?

But there IS a floorball game coming! :-D It doesn't have Swedish league but at least Finnish and maybe Swiss leagues are included. I don't know has it published already, if not, it should come out soon. It's a PC game, BTW.

And for your question, there isn't a way to delete players (at least with editor). I recommend to edit existing players.

Kinda' on-topic here...

Could someone who has more knowledge of what DB's are available put up a sticky list with links to all of them (all the ones that are active anyways, I knwo some of them have disappeared)?

It would save the constant threads of people asking for alternate DB's to just get them compiled in one sticky and then it could just be updated as we went along.

You would need to keep EHM leagues structures. Those are different from floorball leagues, aren't they?

What about this? If you encounter some missing files, report them here. Isn't it enough?

That's true. That's because some users don't upload them here. They store it on different sites (megaupload etc.) :-(

That's why a sticky with a listing of those files, and how to find them, would be handy (and easy to maintain). And stop people from creating new threads about if anyone has any of them.

I understand not wanting anyone to upload them if they're not the original authors. That's fine. I don't see the harm in providing offsite links though.
