The basic starting point

Post by Droc »

I picked up EHM07 and gave it little run through. I read a few guides and such, but to be honest, Im a bit overwhelmed.
There are so many face packs and such, I really dont know where to start.

What Im looking to find out, is the laymen, basic items that I should have to EHM07. All I have so far is the LidasDB2.3 but even that seems outdated. Is their a roster update for this season yet?
Are facepacks compatible with stuff like Lidas?
Can I change the attributes of my players?(having Kovalev outscore Alfredsson 2:1 in my game is a little annoying).

I know the game is old, and that seems to be tossing me off because when I search for a solution there is so much returned in results and so much is old and outdated.

If anyone could help me compile a list of "must haves" I would be very grateful. I know people dislike new people joining and asking to be spoon-fed info.

If you prefer to stay updated, I think Lidas' database is the best you'll find. All details can be found Here.

All EHM 2007 face-packs can be found Here. I believe your face-pack will need to be compatible with Lidas' database. The reason is that EHM does not allow for the start date of your game to be changed; it's hard-coded to start in 2006. Thus, in order for players to show up with the right ages in an updated database, their birth dates need to be altered. That then extends to player pictures, since birth dates are used in the picture file names. Although, I don't use any updated databases, so I could be wrong about this.

As for editing attributes, you can certainly do it yourself. The Pre-game Editor is the most common tool to do this. The Pre-game Editor can be downloaded from Here, and the official support thread for the editor can be found Here.

As for your primary question: I, personally, would recommend nothing more than the 3.0.4 patch (found Here). I think plain old vanilla EHM would be the best way to start, and then once you've got a feel for it, you can look into modding and add-ons. But that's just me. I still, to this day, have never bothered with a database, or any add-on other than my own modified rink graphics; I think EHM is perfectly fine as it is. ;)

And lastly, don't be afraid about asking for help around here. TBL is one of the few gaming communities on the internet that doesn't participate in the typical, childish, patronizing of "n00bs". Most people around here are glad to have more people coming to EHM.

And for players' birth dates altering I'd suggest this tool. ;) Good luck
