NHL Prediction League 2010/11 (Game 1)

Post by archibalduk »

After a season's hiatus, the NHL Prediction League is back once again! Click here to make your predictions.

The competition follows the format of previous seasons:

1) There are five games per week to predict and the competition;
2) The competition runs for approximately half of the season until late December. There is then a second competition which runs for the second half from early January. A winner will be announced for each half and there will be an overall winner based on total points accumulated over each half.
3) Users are free to join in at any time!

There is one new addition which we are trialling for the first half of the season: The Wildcard Game! We have nominated two wildcard teams (Red Deer Rebels and Skellefteå AIK). Every week one of the five games will involve one of the wildcard teams (we'll switch between the two every week). The idea is simply to add an extra twist and a bit of interest for those user who aren't such big followers of the NHL.

Good luck everybody!

By the way, you can also access the Prediction League page from the main navigation menu: Community -> Prediction League.

Cool
One question: do we predict final score or score after 60 minutes (which is usuall in betting agencies)?

The first set of results (four games) have been added. Click here and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the standings. There are four users who correctly predicted the winners of all four of the first games.

It is still early enough for others to join in and not be disadvantaged by missing the first few games. Click on the link above to make your predictions.

So you were able to make predictions for games that had already taken place?

No. It was for future games but predictions were already filled. I think they are copied from previous predictions, aren't they?

Why the Prediction League is not updated? Archi must finally be ousted from the top position! :ohyeah:

Hmm I'm not sure. I'll have to try and test that one out...

Ha that's why I haven't updated it! :D But seriously, I'm sorry for the lack of update. This has been because my job has been real hectic over the past few weeks. Thankfully things have now quietened down again. Unfortunately nobody was able to update the scores and add new games in my absence.

I'll update the scores and add new games right now!

Wow it's very tight at the top of the standings now! There is only seven points separating the top and the bottom of the table. Myself and Flying_Buffalo26 are joint top with 11 points. One point behind are Joe Helmer, Rookier and Manimal. The full leaderboard can be found at the bottom of this page.

New games will be up in about ten minutes...

Btw if you're struggling to predict the Red Deer Skelleftea games then I strongly recommend checking out the scores from earlier this season and last season. This will help act as a guide as you can base your predictions on previous encounters.

I think it is a flawed system. Archi is in the lead but he is only .500 while I have a winning percentage ;)
No worries, though. I'll catch him soon
