Sorry about that, I forgot to post an announcement.Asimo wrote:why was the team visualdarkness GM dropped?

We had an inactive GM in the MHL which I had to boot. Based on his high level of activity in the OHL and his good TBL post-count, VisualDarkness was invited to fill that vacancy. He has kindly accepted, and I've now placed an ad in the sign-up thread asking for a new GM to take the open spot in the OHL.
While we wait for a new GM, I'll be maintaining the team so they remain competitive.

Yeah, and one more good thing, the team is this good despite all the slow starters and under-achievers. Goaltending will improve and so will many of the forwards (well, they have to).

Thanks, and sorry for my slow start. Didin't really have time to get into it alot, but now that I have I'll make sure I'll stay around. Quite a team you have put up VD, but some players are not to my taste, so I'm hoping to do some changes right away. Wheter theyre towards better or nor time will tell
This is my first time playing fantasy hockey so I'm gonna just be "playing around" and trying things to get usued with the game. So don't wonder if some of my moves seem to be based more on feeling than logic

Re: Octavian Hockey League 2010-11
I asked this in the MHL thread, but it's probably more important to the OHL, so...
How do you guys still feel about the original idea of promotion and relegation? Are you guys still interested in having the two leagues linked like this, with three GMs switching leagues each year? Or are you guys happy with this league, and would prefer to stay here to continue with your teams?
The original intent behind promotion/relegation is to give everyone a fair shot at playing in the MHL, our main league, but if you guys are perfectly content playing this league, then I guess there's not much need for the system.

I'm not sure what the promotion/relegation entails, could you elaborate please? Also, will we re-pick our teams next year or do I have to keep these bums?

Re: Octavian Hockey League 2010-11
At the end of each year, the top three managers in the OHL will be promoted up to the MHL. Then, the three lowest-placing teams in the MHL Relegation Playoff will be relegated down to the OHL.
As for re-picking your teams: sort of. As a keeper league, you'll be keeping six players (1 LW, 1 C, 1RW, 2D, 1G) on your roster for the next year. The rest of your roster will be re-drafted in the next fantasy draft.

THREE?????
I forgot that. I thought I'm out of danger in MHL.
Is there some play-out phase that determines the final standings even in the lowest places?

I always thought the idea was Promotion/Relegation. All year I've been saying I'm gonna get promoted. Since I'm currently winning tonight, barring a miracle, I will be going to the finals. Guaranteeing me a spot in the MHL
!!! That is, if the promotion/relegation takes place.

Yeah, there's a relegation playoff. Standings are created offline with all the teams who don't make the playoffs, and the top three teams in these standings will be saved from relegation. The bottom three will be relegated.McQwak wrote:THREE?????I forgot that. I thought I'm out of danger in MHL.

Is it the top three teams in the season, that move up or in playoffs? Clarification please.

Top three in the playoffs.
So it'll be the two finalists, plus one of the teams who lost the chance to play in the finals.
We haven't done any promotions yet with the leagues, so we'll have to think about the exact criteria for that third team.

Re: Octavian Hockey League 2010-11
well the turkeys won the league but if I win this week they finish 4th in the playoffs. I think the #1 team in the season should be forced to move up. Otherwise they just tank in the playoffs finish 4th and start next year with the same keepers that won them the season a year before.

well Turkeys didn't win by much it was a pretty tight top 5. I think its fair that top 3 in playoffs get to go. Also what if Turkeys loses in the Winner's Consolation and he were to get promoted because he won the regular season, who wouldn't be going? Its not fair to the team that finishes 3rd in the playoffs.

I'd like to be the first to congratulate (barring a miracle) timmy_t a.k.a HC Franzen for winning the Inaugural season of the Octavian Hockey League. It was a grueling 6 months and only one person can win it all. I hope this isn't the last time we face off in the playoffs. Good luck next year be it in the OHL or the MHL. (promotion/relegation rules pending).
