Language barriers

I'm just curious if anyone knows if language barriers apply to coaches or not.

I am coaching the Oil Kings in the WHL (latest roster/league updates from Libdas), and there's a pretty good youngster/tactical/forward coach, but he only speaks Danish and German.

I have seen some staff that refuse to sign due to culture differences, but this fella seems keen. Will there be any issues? If so, will he eventually learn English?

He will learn English. Not sure how he'll manage his job meanwhile.

I tend to not take coaches who can't speak my language.

What I can recommended though is maybe to hire him on the farm team or simply as an assistant-coach. Don't give him too much responsabilities to give him time to learn english.

Well, WHL so no farm team, but yeah it would be as the assistant coach.

The way I figure he can teach by showing... right? Right?! :P

I might give it a try if he's still available in the offseason. There might be a more appropriate candidate.

If the coach is really good I will take it despise he doesn't speak english. Even if that means having an average season so he could adjust himself.

Yeah he's not exceptionally better, but he is better than what I have by a bit.

As an aside, to coach attributes ever change? Or do we just have to wait for the good ones to retire and regen?

That's a good question. I don't remember if coaches attributes can change. :-k If yes then it's not alot.

I've hired really good coaches who don't speak English in the NHL, but I usually make them assistant coaches for a year so they can learn. I find most guys pick up the language pretty quickly.
