Seriously? Didn't he just rejoin the Avs?Jypfan92 wrote:Hah, Peter Forsberg announces his retirement.

I thought he was going to play the rest of the season, but I could see this coming, first off his foot injury, second he is quite old and third the speed in NHL is much higher today than it was when Foppa was in his prime.
But he is the best Swedish hockey player....ever! At least according to me.
Here's some Foppa-candy, and I remember both of them very well, especially the goal against Finland!

God must not like the Canucks d-men this year. Another one down last night. Alberts a broken wrist. Lets see... Edler, back surgery, Hamhuis, concussion, Ballard, sprained knee, Sweatt, broken foot. Lucky Salo is back or the whole Moose team might need a call-up. As is Yann Sauve gets the call tonight. Should be an interesting few weeks to see if all the unheralded kids can hold the fort.

All those injuries were result of his tough playing style. Without been somekind of mix of power forward and playmaker, he wouldn't have been the same unique Peter Forsberg we know.Círyatan wrote:Too bad.I was hoping he could pull it off, but obviously it was impossible. I can't help but blame the injuries; I'm sure that if it wasn't for that he would have still been a star in the league, given his talent and skillset. Sill, thanks for the great career, Peter.

I disagree on that one, on some forums over the internet, Avs same say that Forsberg could easily follow the play the two game he was playing. It is just the goddamn injuries.joehelmer wrote:I third the speed in NHL is much higher today than it was when Foppa was in his prime.
I couldn't agree more that he's probably the best Swedish ever. Lidstrom got a nice career for sure but he didn't been injured has Forsberg is. If Forsberg never got those injuries he would've been even more awesome.

As I said above, those foot injuries were the result of Foppa's physical game. That physical game made him awesome playmaker, but also during a long run it made him sensitive for injuries.philou21 wrote:I disagree on that one, on some forums over the internet, Avs same say that Forsberg could easily follow the play the two game he was playing. If the Bruins don't use him as part of a trade package for a scorer or puck-moving defenseman, I bet they could get Mark Stuart for a pick.CeeBee wrote:God must not like the Canucks d-men this year. Oh man, the Canucks could really use some healthy defencemen. As I mentioned in the other thread, now Bieksa gets his foot fractured while blocking a slapper. This leaves the Canucks blueline looking something like:
Oberg – Salo
Sauve – Ehrhoff
Rome – Tanev
I wonder who's gonna dress up for the Moose now.

That's really interesting trade. I really want to see is this top or flop trade for St. Louis (if we talk about players, not picks).gambia_boy wrote:Chris Stewart,Kevin Shattenkirk and 2011 or 2012 2nd-round pick traded to St Louis,St Louis sent back Erik Johnson, Jay McClement and 2011 or 2012 1st-round pick Sherman must be sick, that is ultimate victory for St.Louis...

The mighty Peter Stastny criticized quite violently the transaction with the Blues. Saying that Sherman destroyed the Avs and he slow down the team development for 2-3 years with that trade.
I think the same thing but why did Stastny telled that to the media? His he still around the team? I wonder if this got something to do with Paul.
