Trophies

Post by Shadd666 »

Is anyone should make a file that said which trophy is offered to what kind of player?

I mean: in the NHL, all trophies have a little explanation, telling you that the Calder trophy is for the best rookie, the Vézina for the best goalie, and so on.

But in other leagues, like the canadian juniors, you don't have those infos. It's good to see one of your player winning a trophy, but it's a lot better when you know exactly what he won!

I asked on SI boards if they should add this, but it seem that they thought users would make a little add-on for this... As i don't know how to do, i ask you guys if someone should do so :)

Still about trophies...

Minty, you did really good news items with views of the NHL trophies. Should you (or anyone else!) do the same kind of job for other trophies in the game? Mainly north american trophies, as i guess it would be harder to find good quality picks of european ones... Maybe also the same stuff for international competitions, like the cups/medals for the world championshis, olympics, and so on...

I wouldn't mind making a pack of junior league trophies, if someone could help out with some pics.

Cheers mates.

The source pics is the really hard thing... that's what stopped me from doing more. I did in my last trophy update version add the rookie trophies for the AHL and ECHL but I was never able to find decent images for the others.

I would guess though that you could still make the marble like tags I did for my set just so people would know what they are for at least... CatchUp if you haven't grabbed my News Trophies yet you should, they're pretty darn cool. 8-) You can see what I mean about the 'tags' I made for them.

With your skilz though maybe you could make a standard trophy base image like an engraved glass oval or something that would then have the league logo on it, the name of the trophy and what it's given out for, tracking down what they mean takes some research though, that's for sure.

Is it normal that Calder Trophy winning player didn't have a place in Rookie All-Star Team?

In my game, Coyotes' Enver Lisin won Calder scoring 56 points in 82 games, but Ducks' Bobby Ryan took his place (right winger) in All-Star Team line-up. Ryan scored only 28 points in 82 games, but he had better average rating and a bit better +/-.

Maybe Cold War has a lil' effect on that case. :-D

I'm pretty sure I've seen that happen. The awards are kind of messed up, IMO. Some are based on stats and others seem to be based on reputation. Some might be based on average rating rather than stats. I've seen where a player might have a higher average rating but less games played get an award or named to one of the post-season "teams".

What irritates me is when I've got a player in the top 5 in scoring for the league and he's not invited to the ASG. For example, in the current challenge, Antropov was 3rd overall in scoring for the league at the time of the ASG team being named and had been among the league leaders since for a few seasons. He wasn't included in the ASG. Enstrom was named to the ASG but hadn't been that impressive in any of his season. Why was he a part of the ASG and not Antropov? Not only that but why was he named over other d-men on my team that had been out-performing him?
