Starting unemployed

Post by drewst18 »

I just started a game where you start off unemployed with rep of a Rec leaguer.

I got to thinking it would be fun to start a league were theres 15 GMs and you all start off at that level and try to work your way up to be the first win the Stanley Cup.

Had a few questions for those who have tried this;
1) How long until you start getting jobs
2) How long until you make the NHL (typically)
3) Are there any draw backs to starting in Europe opposed to NA

I think those are the big 3 I was wondering about...

1) If you are using the original database you will get alot of job offers after a month or 2 in game, mainly from leagues like EPL, maybe Elite league UK, Norway, Low league Finland, Denmark. IF using a lidas or other updated roster database there seems to be alot less teams at the start without a GM.

2) Ive done a few and depending of which teams/leagues you manager to get in and how fast you bring success... 1 save took me about 6-7 seasons whereas another taken me about 12!

3) Wouldn't say drawbacks just the leagues in EURO have some really small reputations, like the EPL UK is one of the lowest ranked leagues of the game, where as say the UHL reputation is about 9/10 or so. So it might just taken a few more seasons. But its always fun trying to trade for the NHL drop outs and veterans while GM'ing in Europe

Cool idea with the online-GMs trying to move up.

The unemployed-to-NHL subject has been discussed several times before. Here's the latest thread
