[drafted_players.dat][extra_config.cfg] Draft editing

Post by Gretzlaf »

Quick question. Since the first round of the Draft is done, I want to finish some of the trades off in the game by switching the traded picks. However, I can't figure out which team is which, so to say.

This is the current "Draft Pick Switch" section in my extra config file (1st Round):

# NHL Draft Picks
#
# 2011
"DRAFT_PICK_SWITCH" "Boston Bruins" "Toronto Maple Leafs" 1 2007
"DRAFT_PICK_SWITCH" "Los Angeles Kings" "Edmonton Oilers" 1 2007
"DRAFT_PICK_SWITCH" "Nashville Predators" "Ottawa Senators" 1 2007
"DRAFT_PICK_SWITCH" "Philadelphia Flyers" "Toronto Maple Leafs" 1 2007
"DRAFT_PICK_SWITCH" "Toronto Maple Leafs" "Boston Bruins" 1 2007

Problem is, I can't figure out which team to put first, the team that gave up the pick or the team that received the pick? Thank you for your help.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot about the Pre-Game Editor thread. Feel free to move this there if you wish. My apologies.

If I understand your question right, the team that is giving up the pick to the other team goes first (Maple Leafs > Bruins) and the team receiving the pick goes second. Hope this helps!

Manual Roster Updates

Post by AaronRStanley »

Greetings,

Firstly, I apologise if any of these questions have been asked elsewhere. I searched the forum and looked, and couldn't find any of them.

1) What's the process for adding the recently completed draft into the database, by hand? Is it a matter of removing the draft picks in the config file for 2011, and moving the 2012 in, then changing the players rights?

2) How is a 2-way contract added to a player's file, in the pre-game editor, for a young player or an older player that signs a 2-way contract?

3) Is there a way to split the money a player receives unevenly across the contract, as in the case of Boyd Gordon's recent signing?

1) When I update the season I remove all 2011(2007)draft picks in the extra_config_file. Then I rename the 2012 so that they occur at 2007. For the draftees, we add rounds to the 2006 draft as it would take too much time to kick back all previous drafts every year. This year is rounds 51-57. Next years first round will be 61, so that it is easier to find out what rounds they really were drafted in. You have to add rights to each player as well

2) Can't be done

3) no, there isn't

Thanks for the quick answers.

Where would I go for the 2006 draft edit? Or do I just add the rounds when changing the player status?

And so the first pick of the 51st round in the 06 draft would be the real first overall for the 2011 draft?

You change every player manually in the 'Draft details'

That is how I have it set up. I don't know which DB you started with so it could be different

I merged AaronRStanley's thread as this is where it belongs /Manimal

Players missing from the draft

Post by Pithius »

Hey there,

I wasn't sure where to post this as it kind of cuts across a few topics, but I figured I would try this thread.

First off, thank you SO much for making this patch. It has (yet again!) rekindled my love for this game.

I have been using a 2011 start date with the patch, and everything seems to work fine. I am also using the altered Manimal 3.2 V2 database.

One thing I have noticed is that a lot of the prospects for the 2012 draft do not appear in the draft list, and can be signed by any team as soon as the game is started. Players like Nail Yakupov can be signed and do not appear in the list. However, Mikhail Grigorenko is eligible and if I try to offer a contract, it correctly pops up with the "This player must be drafted" message.

I have found that probably 85% of the players who should be in the draft do not appear. Using the pre-game editor, I cannot for the life of me figure out why Mikhail Grigorenko appears correctly in the draft while Nail Yakupov does not. I have tried tweaking various values and starting a new game over and over, but I can't figure it out. My only solution thus far has been to retire the player that is not appearing in the draft, and then to create a new player with the same name, DOB, and attributes. the new player correctly appears in the draft and cannot be offered contracts. And yet everything I have entered is identical! Needless to say, that is also the most time-consuming method of fixing this.

Is there an easier way to correct this issue? Am I missing something really obvious?

Thanks!

Pithius, this thread suits your question better.
It can be chnged in an easier way. JUst add the birth year to the players. It is below the date-of-birth

Thanks Manimal.

I thought I tired that, but I will give that a whirl tonight. Out of curiosity, would I want to change a player like Yakupov (born October 1993) to birth year 1993, or 1994 if I want him in the 2012 draft year?

Thanks!
