They signed Carcillo? I never found a news about that on the net. What's the deal?

Also, Ladd signed a 5 years 22 millions deal with Winnipeg. Ottawa signed Zonopka.

Yes, it's been a very boring UFA signing period for the B's. I know Chiarelli has been playing it conservative because he's going to need to re-sign some big guys in the next offseason but... come on!

I really don't think I like the Pouliot signing. He never really impressed me when the Bruins played against him.

As much as I wasn't impressed with Kaberle after the Bruins dealt for him, what else is still out there? I'm not sure I see any other options unless they can pull off a trade.

Well Kaberle signs with Carolina and the Bruins acquire Joe Corvo for a pick, although that's according to Bruce Garrioch

I've actually seen that Corvo deal confirmed by a few sources now.

Pouliot has nothing to impress, especially given his high draft rank and body size. He hardly plays physically, and when he does so, he does it rather weakly. He's got a poor attitude, and while he has some skills and can score, he doesn't do so often enough for it to compensate for his otherwise poor play. Even at 1,1 million, he's overpriced IMO. He was consistently outplayed by the kids promoted from Hamilton. No he didn't get much ice time and still got 13 goals out of it. But... for a 4th pick overall, he certainly didn't demonstrate he had what it takes to fill the role a 4th pick is supposed to fill, i.e. being at least a top-6 forward. He's even worse come playoffs time, with a mere 2 assists in 18 games in the 2009-10 playoffs. He was a healthy scratch 4 games in the 2010-11 playoffs, with 0 points in the three in which he played.

Either he blossoms, either he fails miserably. Perhaps playing for and with confident Cup winners can do the former, but I vote for the latter. Chiarelli should have given his chance to a kid in Providence, whoever it is. He'd probably have done better, be it only out of motivation to keep his butt in the NHL. Pouliot has no motivation, even with his jobs less safe than ever.

I'm indifferent to the Pouliot signing. If he's useless he's gonna end up in the pressbox or in Providence anyway. I didn't see too many options available for Chiarelli this summer, would've liked Upshall, but obviously not for that money, a lot of awful deals out there the last couple of days, worse than usual. White is a great value signing for the Wings though, wish the Bs got him. Corvo is rubbish.

At 1 million I think Pouliot could be an interesting gamble for the Bruins. Though, I personnaly think that this will not be as different as in Mtl. The one thing I'm curious to see is how he's gonna play with an offensive team like the B's. He wasn't a great fit in Mtl at the start with their defense playstyle + his poor attitude.

Karberle : 3 years, 12.75 millions. I'm sure his value dropped because of his horrible playoffs.

Racicot-Washington has a few $ to shed before the season starts. They are over the in season cap. I believe they are at $67 million or so right now. So that roster you posted is not accurate for the season. However..they are going to be a formidalble Eastern Conference Regular Season Team. I will believe they will have playoff success when they actually have some. The core are still no playoff players. Brouwer won't change much. Guy is the most inconsistent player in the history of the NHL. Well...maybe an exaggeration there. He is good, just not that good.

Vokoun-Until he proves he can play in the playoffs. Whup-de-doo.

Hawks--Needed to get tougher. Got tougher. Got vets to keep the kids on the path. That team is going to be miserable to play against. especially for their main competition Vancouver, Detroit, Los Angeles. None of those teams are that tough, and Detroit is the only one that has proved they can just keep playing their game without the toughness bothering them. Only the Oilers may be tougher to deal with. Chicago is a big force.

Brunette-Toews-Kane
Hossa-Sharp-Frolik
Olesz-Bolland-Smith
Carcillo-Mayers-Scott
Stahlberg

Keith-Seabrook
Leddy-Hjalmarsson
O'Donnell-Montador
Hendry-Campoli (or whoever)

Crawford

Chicago has a skill team, and a team that can bang and crash, and play mean. Washington will not handle that well, similar to how Vancouver did not handle it well with Boston. The Hawks are rising again. Not sure they will resign Frolik or Campoli. Both seem to be asking a ton. Olesz may be gone (bought out). But the Hawks will add something in a move then.

Oh and BTW--the #1 guy the Caps are talking about moving--Semin.

Not surprise to see Semin moving if this happen. :dunno:

Chicago line-up is good, I love Brunette's addition. Though, Olesz and Frolik are a big gamble IMO.

Olesz is injured from what I understand, thus ineligible for a buyout. Funnily, Olesz buyout would give them half a million additional cap room in 2 of the 6 buyout years due to his contract structure. Agreed on the Hawks, interesting mix of skill and toughness there.

Cheechoo is with a new team. A 2 way contract with St-Louis. If the guy go on like this, he will beat the record of Sillinger. :-D

That's only his 3rd team though isn't it? San Jose, Ottawa and St. Louis? or did I miss something? I though he spent the year in the 'A' last year.

He was in the AHL with Worcester. But this wasn't a two way contract, only an AHL one I think.

So much talent, but his body is shot; at a very young age I might add. I really thought he would have a resurgence in Ottawa in the Heatley trade, but I didn't realize just how beat up and slow he was.

He will never be a significant contributor at the NHL level again. Double-digit goal total would be a miracle.

It's crazy that just 5 years ago he was a young 50 goal scorer.

So Peter DeBoer will be the next guy to loose his job at NJ in the past 8 years. :-D

Steven Stamkos has signed a 5 year deal, worth 37 millions with Tampa Bay.

Don't mean to be a jerk, but philou did mention it on the last page.

Overpayment in my opinion, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that thinks that.

The Winnipeg Jets unveiled their new primary and secondary logos.

I find them average, nothing more. Hopefully the uniforms will compensate.

Yesterday was the 23 year anniversary of the Wayne Gretzky trade to the Kings. Does anyone think (a healthy) Sidney Crosby could be dealt nowadays? And what would the Pens get back?

I really don't think the Pens will deal Crosby like that. But what they can get for him in this era? darn....I can't even imagine.
