I am surprised that you didn't know that a DB like that exists, timmy_t ...
However, I couldn't resist to test it - obviously with the Sabres from 06/07 - and I must admit that I love it. Campbell is making 1.25/y - Miller 2M and Vanek not even 1M - the only one I am missing is Rob Ray

. It's awesome, knowing what the future is like, you can build around key players from then and let your franchise look like it should have...
Obviously the drafts are not as thrilling as they are with totally random players, but I took a quick look into the DB and all the upcoming draftees have random potential (e.g.: Patrick Kane has only a PA of -9, so he could be an almost complete bust as well) - altough it's not realistic as we know the future irl, but it gives this DB the necessary touch to be fun to play.
I still appreciate the Lidas/Manimal updates much more as it is the actuality we are all looking for when playing a simulation like that (just thinking about the Flyers without Richards/Carter but the addition of great prospects). And having in mind that the AI in EHM tempts to make trades around the league like a 10y old kid playing NHL 08-11 there is not much realism left in the unfaking DB after a few years (I am not so far, just 20 games into season 1

- not such an addict), But I am pretty sure that it will look like that ...
A real advantage compared to the Lidas/Maniaml DBs is that the RFA/UFA rules seem to apply correctly so that there are neither Burmistrov nor Fowler unrestricted free agents after their ELCs end and additionally Kopitar won't win the Calder trophy with 100+ points while being a member of the NHL for more than a couple of years attributeswise..
In conclusion, in my opinion this a great possibility if you are unhappy ore even upset with the moves your GM did the last couple of years and you want to correct them in EHM, but I think it's much more interesting to get a franchise from the bottom of the league into contender-status in just a few years like we do in the challenges! However, it would be nice if people could try this and possibly we can even make a topic discussing the value and the content of that DB?!
P.S.: I know it hasn't been brought to life by ehmtheblueline.com - are their any conflicts we should know of with thebreakaway.net? Nobody deleted the link so I hope that's still okay as I have never seen a thread mentioning that DB?
