GMing in Europe

Hey, all.

I've just started an unemployed game, and wound up GMing HPK in SM Liiga. Now I no nothing about hockey in Europe so I'd like to ask a few questions.

1. How does trading work?
2. Teams have been asking to borrow players from me, is this beneficial to my team?
3. How do the team affiliations work (for SM Liiga, Eliteserien and KHL)
3a. Is there a draft for any of those leagues?
4. How do I sign foreign prospects? There is this Canadian kid playing AAA (14 years-old) and I wanted to sign him. I saw in the B-junior team there was a kid who was 15, will I be able to sign him next season (the Canadian)?
5. What are good leagues to scout while GMing the SM Liiga, Eliteserien and KHL?

Anyone know of any good European league guides, or even just a link that has a bunch of tips? I honestly have no idea what I'm doing so anything you think could help me, if you don't mind, please tell

1. How does trading work?

There's no trading. Just buying and selling players. And even then you need the player's approval for the deal to go thru.

2. Teams have been asking to borrow players from me, is this beneficial to my team?

Usually young players are borrowed so they can get first team experience from a higher level than the juniors. SM-liiga teams tend to loan players to Mestis.

3. How do the team affiliations work (for SM Liiga, Eliteserien and KHL)

There are no affiliations in the same way as in NHL. I can't say for sure about Elitserien or KHL, but in Finland your only affiliation is a junior team. Some teams like to loan players to certain Mestis teams, but these are more mutual agreements due to geography, rather than actual affiliations.

3a. Is there a draft for any of those leagues?

No. The biggest bidder wins.

4. How do I sign foreign prospects? There is this Canadian kid playing AAA (14 years-old) and I wanted to sign him. I saw in the B-junior team there was a kid who was 15, will I be able to sign him next season (the Canadian)?

In Finland you're allowed four foreign players dressed at once. Other than that you can sign anyone you want, if they're willing to join your team.

5. What are good leagues to scout while GMing the SM Liiga, Eliteserien and KHL?

While playing SM-liiga, you could scout all Finnish leagues: Juniors, Mestis, Suomi-Sarja, Second Division and Lower Leagues for good prospects to buy for your team. Other European leagues is a good idea too.

I'm working on a 1974 db and I'm trying to keep the Europeans/Russians in Europe/Russia and not have them all go to the NHL after season one (some success).
What I'm wondering is using the Pre-Game Editor can I set it so that when starting a young (teenager) player from Europe/Russia is "on loan" to a junior team? Or "on loan" to a second division team? I've not yet been able to place players in such a way (maybe the junior/second division roster is full? like the ECHL always seems full with only about 20 players?)

Club playing for: Junior team or 2nd division team

Seems to work for me. However, the First team can re-call the player at any time after the start of the game

The thing about scouting, When I´m GM for a club in Europe, I often scout in Czhech Republic, Slovakia and Switzerland. They often have very good players for a cheap price
