How long will the first round take approximately? I hope I get back home in time but I've set a bunch of player rankings. Though most of the top 120 will be keepers...

It'll depend on how many people are online. Yesterday, we had only 3 managers drafting, and the whole draft took maybe about an hour.

It also depends on what you picture as the first round - the actual first round is a keeper-selection round, where the AI picks our first keepers, and will take about 5 seconds :-p

The first round that we actually get to draft will be Round 11. The biggest delays here will be the autopick teams - the AI will let these teams go the full 90 seconds before setting them as an autopick team. After this, autopicks will be instant.

But to give you an idea of time, if everyone takes their full 90 seconds to pick, a round would take 21 minutes. A full draft like this would take about 4-1/2 hours (not counting the quick rounds 1 to 10). A round where every pick is autopicked would take maybe only about 5 seconds. This full draft would be only about 2 minutes!

Most are just day-to-day so no worries. It's more important to be healthy in the play-offs

Gambles won me the play-offs last year.

Since when did we change the amount of keepers to 10... Pretty annoyed at that, thought it was 1 per position...

Not sure you have much to be upset about. Check back in this forum...or the one from last season. Been known for approx a month. Plus it was noted in at least 2 emails that Stinson set out prior to the keeper deadline. Understand not knowing sucks, but a great majority of people were aware.

Nice work by everyone present at the draft yesterday. Sadly I wasn't nearly as prepared as the previous season and I'll probably be even less active than I was last year but I decided to participate anyway. At least it will add some extra flavour to watching the NHL highlights in the morning.

Just a note to everyone, I've gone ahead and decreased the match-up acquisition limit as discussed in the beginning of the thread.

The limit has been decreased from 7 to 4. This should, at least a little bit, make management more about managing a consistent team, rather than relying on "mercenaries" every week. It should also encourage more trading, for those who want to move players around.

Good stuff. Speaking of trades....time to as always ask that guys go have a look at their trade blocks and set their story. As always I am open for business. Even my untouchables are available just at a higher standard!

By the way, just a little clarification on the acquisition limit:

As many of you likely already know, it's dynamic and scales according to the length of a matchup. This first week is actually a 10-day matchup, so the limit is 6 instead of the normal 4. Shorter mathups (likely around the All-Star break) will scale down from 4.

What does "acquisition limit" mean? Is it how many free agents/waiver claims I can do in a week?

Exactly. To be more accurate it's limit for a matchup. Usually a matchup lasts one week but in some cases (like regular season beginning/ending, all-star break, olympic break or maybe christmas break - I'm not sure) it can take longer.
And it does not limit trades. It applies only to free agents/waiver claims as you wrote.

Ok guys...3 weeks in. ZERO trades. BOOOOOOOOOOO!! BORING!!!

Time to do some shuffling. Lets get started here. I am pretty much willing to make a deal that involves every player on my team. I love noone I hate noone. Make me an offer. Make a reasonable one....make a deal.

NEGOTIATIONS. Lets get going and make this league interesting. Totally boring now with no moves out there. Whup de do....picking up guys like Jiri Tlusty and dropping superstars like Michael Del Zottto......lets go...time for moves!!!

My last trade was giving up Burrows and Bryzgalov for Zetterberg, I should keep away from trading...

And there you have it...trade #1. Thanks Concussion...I got two pretty darn good overall fantasy players in this deal....exactly what I needed...shots and PIM. Yeah they are Canucks and now I have 3 too many of them.

Make an offer for Roberto anyone?

I won't give up Bäckström or Rinne for Luongo so I dubt you'll find a deal, but feel free to try.

A deal for Roberto would still have to knock my socks off...not really on the market other than to see what people are willing to give up for him, and if there is anything that makes sense for me. Backstrom and Rinne are as solid a combination as Luongo/Niemi. Of course not going to make a deal involving our goalies. :-D I do have Nabby too....which I think is going to turn out to be a big edge for me in minutes and saves.

Yeah, I thought I went into the season with three starters in Rinne, Bäckström and Dubnuk only to see Khabibulin somehow play good again. :-o

Is there any bonus to finish high in this league? I mean whatever we do in the regular season has no meaning once we've made it to the play-offs.
