I would suggest reading Archi's EHM guide, the link to which can be found at the top of this page or at here
I would also suggest copying down your tactics as people will be able to help you out more if they know what your tactics are.

ok
all defence have: Defence mentality, Join rush no, Backchecking hard, Carry puck no, pass, pressing easy,
1st line: attacing, Behind the net, high forcheck, zonal,
all lines have zonal defence
all wings have shoot and centers pass
2st line attacing, skating, positional, high forcheck
3st line: defensive, positional, neutral zone trap, only one wings have shoot and attacing mentality
r.nash have hitting hard and spezza have boardplay finesse
all atackers have join rush yes and carry puck yes.
in last season i scored 160 goals with this tactics but most of them 1st line
but i have 282 goals Against and 72 % penalty killing
boughner had 348 pennalty minutes - he have fighting not allowed

second line and third line: - 34
ricci - 48
hull - 43
first defence line have 30+
i scored every game 2-4 gaols but all scored 1st line and oponets scored 4-8 in some games 10-12 goals
