I had that same problem a while back. I believe the editor wants a specific date format, but it inherits the format from your system settings. And unless your system's date format matches what the editor wants, you'll get that error.eeegac wrote:Not sure is this been here already. Sorry if it is. Newbie in the site
anyways, while updating the DB I found a minor, but annoying bug in the Pre-game editor 1.7
National team appearances can't be over 255.
If 256 is typed and saved, editor changes the number to 0, if 257 is typed and saved, the editor saves the number 1 etc. etc.

Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
Was looking to see if someone could help myself and this poster out, I've had this problem a few times and it's frustrating.hey there, ive been editing my database for hundreds of hours in the last few months, and all of a sudden the pre game editor wont load my updated database anymore.my last database save was last night with no issues. now right at the point where it tries to load the staff it reads "access violation at address 00495608 in module "ehm_edit_2007.exe" read of address 445B6794" , does anybody know what this means? i tried deleting and re-downloading the editor, that didnt work.also,i can start a new game with that database without any problems, so i dont think the database is corrupt either. could it possibly just be a staff member that wasnt edited properly, and if so,how would i fix it without being able to use the editor. anyways, any insight would help.......im going nuts here with the thought of wasting all that time getting this database updated

Yeah it's tedious, most editor problems are. If you have any more problems or issues I have a fair bit of experience with standard problems so feel free to PM.

I'm new here and have a question. I just download the CSD patch and Manimal 4.0 roster update. Is there anyone to use this along with those two. I just created myself and a few friends as prospects and we don't show up once the game is loaded with the patch? Please help!
Thanks,

Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
Hi everyone,
I have been trying to make a simple change to the Manimal 4.0 rosters using the pre-game editor - I want to switch affiliations of a couple NHL teams. I play on a Mac, so I downloaded the editor on a PC and downloaded the 4.0 database onto that PC. I made the changes (while running as administrator), was sure to hit confirm and save, and even reopened my adjusted database in the editor and saw that my changes were saved. However, when I copy the new database onto my Mac and start a new game, the changes didn't take and it still shows the affiliations as they are on the 4.0 database.
Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be? I think it's more related to the problems that some folks are having with the changes not "taking" than it is to the Mac/PC transfer. Thanks in advance for any advice any of you fine folks might have.
Andy

Sounds like some sort of issue relating to the forenames (first_names.dat). Did you make any changes to player names?Manimal wrote:I tried to make the changes am1270 wanted and when I tried to save I got a message saying *Error re-indexing forenames at index 44*

Do you get the error each time you try or was it just a one off?

I changed an AHL-team with an ECHL-team, that's it.
I tried four times and I've got the same error
I am using the 4.0 - 2006 rosters

I wonder if it's an issue related to converting the patched v4.0 rosters to the 2006 non-patched version. I'll take a look this week...Manimal wrote:I changed an AHL-team with an ECHL-team, that's it.

Hey All,
I was wondering...I am contemplating downloading and using the editor in the season I have started (In January of year 1...using Manimal rosters). I am a little worried that something my get screwed up if I edit the database (by accident by myself ....or even some sort of editor bug). Is there a way to "Back up"my current season so in the case that it gets all pooched I can start the season from where I left off with the manimal pre-edited rosters?

Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
You can just save and put aside a copy of your saved game, and then you can go back to it if you have any editing issues......but to make changes to an existing EHM game you will have to use the SavedGame Editor, and not the PreGame Editor (as any changes made to a database using the PreGame Editor only take effect when starting a new game). AND keep in mind your editing options are limited when using the SavedGame Editor (it simply doesn't have as many options/features as the PreGame Editor)

Sorry fellas, I have another question issue.
I am attempting to add a player to the pre-game editor and when I go to save i get the error: error indexing forenames at index 44....I see that someone had the same problem above..but I cant see a solution. Anyone know what the issue is? I am sure it's something I am doing ...or neglecting to do.
Thanks guys

The EHM pre-game editor no longer works with the latest rosters...
I tried just opening it up, and then saving (without making any mods) and it gives this error : Error re-indexing forenames at index 44
I wasted 30 minutes making the latest QMJHL trades.. and lost everything !
oh well...
In the future I guess I'll learn to test the save function first...

I got the same error too. In fact, it isn't limited to just swapping teams. It looks like any attempt to make the slightest change and save the database results in the same error.
However this only affects the 2006 non-patched v4.0 rosters. The patched CSD rosters seem to be fine. This suggests that the problem relates to the tool I've used to convert the rosters. I'll need to take a look at the tool to find the source of the error. I don't edit the first_names file directly but I do edit files which have links to that file.
Sorry guys!

Are you using the 2006-adjusted Manimal rosters? If so, please see my reply directly above this post.Kirby wrote:Sorry fellas, I have another question issue.

Thought it was something like that. So in your opinion...I guess I should just download the CSD Patch....and that should make it work? Thanks for the helparchibalduk wrote:Sorry for the delay. Yeah, if you're able to get the CSD Patch running then use the patched Manimal v4.0 Rosters. There shouldn't be a problem with editing those rosters.Kirby wrote:Thought it was something like that. So I guess you haven't found why we cannot use the pre-game editor with the non-CSD rosters ?
I don't have the e-licence so I guess I'm stuck eh ?
As I mentionned, it doesnt even need a change to be made to error-out... even if you just open up the database and try to save it without making any changes it does the error...
