I guess it's my first post so here goes.

So, I'm playing with Flyers and before 2024 draft Carolina Hurricanes wins the draft lottery (and by my understanding gets the #1 pick). So what I'm gonna do is to trade that pick for myself. After the trade is complete and the draft begins, they say that I got #10 overall pick, what the f**k?

Check the overall standings, my guess is Carolina finished with the 14th overall pick, won the lottery, and moved up 5 spots to 10th. Just because you win the lottery doesn't mean you get the automatic first overall pick. Winning the lottery means you move up 5 positions in the draft from wherever you finished (for the first round), that means only a team in the bottom 5 has a chance at winning the 1st overall.

No worries, glad I could be of help I actually didn't know that about the draft (or much about drafting in general) until I started playing this game back in 2007. Hockey fueled my passion for the game, and the game fueled my passion for getting more into hockey (i.e. learning about the NHL Draft, and getting more into the details of the game of hockey, etc). Have fun!

Wow, the craziest thing just happened today.

My Canucks stomped the Flames 10-1 in a regular season game (the team's 3rd 10 goal game of the season already, and it's only November), and in the 3rd period, with about 7 minutes left, THERE WAS A SEXTUPLE FIGHT (i.e. every player on the ice, including both goalies, paired up and dropped the gloves). 80 penalty minutes handed out off that scrum alone.

Just some background info, the year is 2020 so players are largely regens, and here are the lines that were on the ice:

Canucks:
Laich-Bartley-Turnbull (my checking line, Bartley is only 5'8 but has 17 ratings in aggression and bravery.)
Derochers-Norman (Norman's 6'6 and 230 pounds)
Favarin

Flames:
Wolski-Morris-Pazourek
Kronwall-Pokulok
Tolvanen (backup, Josh Harding got shelled early in the game)

Had something interesting happen again in my game with the Minnesota Wild. Game 6 of the WCF, I'm up 3-2 right now, then I lose this game. Checked out the box score and saw this:



HUH? How do I lose 6-5 but the last score is 5-5? Ok, time to check out the game stats:




Are you seeing this? Ok, it's obvious this game definitely went to OT, likely beyond...I mean 100 shots?!?!?!?!?!?!? Check out the play-by-play and:




Yes, that's right, 6 OT periods, 172 minutes of play (ok, so 1 second shy)...if a normal 3 period, 60 minute game takes 2.5 hrs, that means this game took about 6-7 hrs? EPIC game. OH, and I was also playing 2 men down, 1 for suspension 1 for injury (didn't have time to call up replacements as Houston played that afternoon). Bernier stopped 95 of 101 shots.
