Using the TBL unfaking database I made what could be considered a 3-way deal for the Ottawa Senators:
To the Sens:
Dustin Brown
Oleg Kvasha
Oleg Tverdovsky
To the Kings:
Dany Heatley
And then right after that...
To the Sens:
Lukas Kaspar
Milan Michalek
To the Sharks:
Patrick Eaves
Oleg Kvasha
I made it to the Easter Conference Finals only to lose to New Jersey.
Oleg Tverdovsky picked up 10g and 26 points in 71 regular season games.
Dustin Brown picked up 7g and 28 points in 29 regular season games (he was out for over 3 months).
Milan Michalek picked up 35g and 70 points in 68 regular season games.
Lukas Kaspar picked up 31g and 61 points in 79 regular season games.
I didn't really want to trade Heatley, but I couldn't sign him to a deal so I dealt him and I think I did pretty good.

I wish those were my trades, but it was just the AI genius. (Playing with Lidas 2.3 in 2014, so they're all still pretty young)
To Columbus:
Alexander Ovechkin
To Washington:
Rights to Jason Paul (C/LW, 1st round bust, career AHLer) and Blue Jackets 2nd round pick
Obviously the Caps felt cheated and made this trade:
To Washington:
Anze Kopitar
To Los Angeles:
Rights to Josh Farrell (G, horrible 1st round bust) and rights to Bo Murphy (LD, fringe AHLer)

Sorry my friend but this is DUMP. That kind of way to abuse the AI is completely stupid. We don't support that kind of things here.

Have to agree with philou21 here. You should set some boundaries for yourself in order to make it more challenging. Just acquiring 1st round picks all the time is easy and takes the fun out of the game. At least for the majority of us.philou21 wrote:IslesEnforcer wrote:-Traded Andy Sutton before the deadline to Detroit for a 1st round pick

Understood, but unfortunately I am horrible with this game and have languished in last place for four consecutive season. I have tried many different things on getting my team to win games (practices, line combos, tactics) to no avail and (for a beginner who has had no luck) I feel as if trying to build my team through the draft (not trading 23468235682358 picks for Crosby and Ovy) is hopefully a positive move in the right direction.RomaGoth wrote:IslesEnforcer wrote:-Traded Andy Sutton before the deadline to Detroit for a 1st round pick

On a lighter note, Marty Biron has been coveted by a ton of teams and all have offered Philly 1st round picks. Some teams obviously have tried to sweeten the deal with picks and prospects but for some reason Philly keeps cancelling the deal. A week later they waive Biron and Florida claims him. I thought that was quite odd.

Well, a solid plan of building through the draft, waivers, and free agency is the way to go. I suggest you trade up in the draft, rather than just acquiring a ton of 1st rounders. For example, offer your 1st and 3rd round picks for another team's 1st rounder (obviously do this with a team that is drafting before you, preferably in the top-10). This is a good way to acquire a player to start building your team around, and you don't end up with a ridiculous amount of picks either. Also, keep an eye on your farm teams, and spend wisely in free agency. In addition, hire good coaches and scouts (I go for coaches with high determination and high coaching youngsters).IslesEnforcer wrote:Understood, but unfortunately I am horrible with this game and have languished in last place for four consecutive season. Perhaps most importantly, have fun. This game is a lot of fun and it is possible to build a team from scratch.

Re: EHM 2007 - Your best trades!
Database: Minimal 4.1 & CSD patch starting 2011.
It feels like i did a decent trade this night.. In the preseason for season two (2012-2013) with Tampa. Philly won the cup the first year.
I was searching for a C or LW, for my top lines and i made this deal:
Namestnikov C 19yr
6th pick
<--->
Brayden Schenn C/LW 20yr
1st pick
Was it a bad trade? I dont know if Namestnikov gets any good..

Re: EHM 2007 - Your best trades!
Traded Patrik Hornqvist to Dallas for 2 1st rounders 2017,18, Hornqvist was 35 at the time and considering a contract renewal. the 1st pick turned into the 26th which I used to trade up to get a prospect I wanted and the 2nd pick will probably be a low one as well. Either way gave me a good basis to start the rebuild of the Flyers as I just took over and they need some direction. We finished 2nd last and got the 3rd overall pick but unfortunately it wasn't a terrific draft year no grade A standouts. Time will tell if it is one of my best trades but I found it surprising I got 2 first rounders when I struggle to get any decent picks a lot of the times for good young regens I can't afford to keep around.

Using an older Lidas game (can't remember which db). I traded for a 28 year old Marian Hossa for a 2nd round pick, Kenny Ryan and a couple AHLers. Just traded a 37 year old Marian Hossa for two 1sts and a 3rd rounder. I sent him back to Chicago so they probably won't be high 1st but I'm still happy with how it worked out.

Re: EHM 2007 - Your best trades!
I had alot of nice Trades, but not much turned out be that like this, when I played the Coyotes for some Seasons:
to Rangers: Fredrik Sjostrom
to Coyotes: Marcel Hossa
Sjostrom was okay for a 3rd Line Player 11 Pts./+2 and Hossa had something like 9 Pts...till Trade Deadline 2007-08. After my 2nd Line Player were injured,I replaced him with Hossa and he got in 20+ Games over 35 Pts. and 21 Goals!! What a Win for me,unfortunately I couldn´t resign him immediately and got to resign him for a good Price late in 2008-09

Re: EHM 2007 - Your best trades!
I've been trying hard to play realistically (After batdad roasted me on one of these threads. I appreciate it tho, the game certainly has a different type of appeal now), so out of my realistic, actual hockey trades, some of my personal faves are:
- 1st rounder (turned out to be 30th overall) for Trent Hunter at the 2007 trade deadline. Now about to retire a Vancouver Canuck after 12 seasons with the franchise, all-time points leader in the franchise, 3 Conn Smythes, came 4th in league scoring twice.
- 1st rounder (different game, Penguins GM in fantasy draft mode) + Paul Bisonette for Brian Boucher and Marc Staal. Boucher was an awesome late bloomer, and now a starting calibre goalie, giving me an awesome tandem with Olaf Kolzig. Marc Staal's ratings just shot up after I got him, he's now playing 2nd line minutes now along with Meszaros with PP and PK time at age 22 (Chara and Niinimaa are too good of a top pairing to bump him up). Not to mention that I now have 3 of the Staal brothers (Jordan, Marc, and just drafted Jared in the 4th round). I think the reason that my first was worth so much was the fact that Kovalchuk was my only star player (Malkin, Wolski, and Chara only had "superb" reputations when I did this) and the game assessed my roster as being not that good despite the fact that I would've won the cup that season had I not been stifled by a very hot Luongo in the finals.
- Dan Carcillo + 4th rounder for Radek Dvorak (again in the fantasy draft game). Minny was absolutely stacked on RW, so Dvorak was expendable to them. It was only for a 3rd liner, but his extra speed and defensive abilities was a huge boost to my 3rd line and PK. Had to let him go after 2 seasons though, he won the Selke that season and demanded a 3 year, 4.5M/yr contract (eventually signed with the Canucks for 4.2M 2 years) the same season I had to re-sign Malkin and Leino, both having played out their ELC's.

Way more realistic Mr jumbotron. I approve, as long as Marc Staal and Trent Hunter were about to be free agents. Rentals move, studs do not if under contract.

Re: EHM 2007 - Your best trades!
Haha sweet. Hunter was a deadline pickup with an expiring contract, Dvorak had an expiring contract but was picked up earlier in the season (early December) from a Panthers team that was in 14th at the end of November. Marc Staal was only a pending RFA, but I figured it'd be fair to get him cause 1) He was stuck behind a solid top-4 and deserved more icetime and 2) for the sake of eventually getting all the Staals in the same locker room (signed Jordan to his ELC a few months later).batdad wrote:Way more realistic Mr jumbotron. In season 4 of the Fantasy Draft game now. Marc Staal's developed into a stud dman. Jordan's my go-to callup for top-9 injuries and will crack the roster full time next season. Drafted Jared in the 4th round, but it seems like he won't become a full time NHL'er. Seems like the only way I'll get Eric is through free agency though, the Stars won't even give him up for Wolski + Meszaros

Eric value in the game is insane. With Wolski and Meszaros you should add 4 first round pick and even then I doubt so.

Re: EHM 2007 - Your best trades!
This is true. Apparantly Malkin and Wolski (120 and 100 points respectively, Wolski played on the 2nd line after I signed Valeri Bure to offset the loss of Zetterberg) + 2 1st rounders isn't even enough. I give up, time for a massive 1-year offersheetphilou21 wrote:Eric value in the game is insane. With Wolski and Meszaros you should add 4 first round pick and even then I doubt so.
