Personal Filter settings

Post by deknegt »

I am sure everyone has their own preferred filter settings.

Just wondering what everyone's personal settings are when you are searching for players in general.
To start things off I am going to show my own.

Defenders:
Aggression: 10
Balance: 10
Determination: 10
Checking: 12
Hitting: 12
Pokecheck: 10
Positioning: 12
Stamina: 13
Strength: 12
Work Rate: 12

As you can see I want my Defenders to be great at Defending (duh), offensive skills are not sought after but are always useful to have. I want my defenders to be gritty hard workers who can bully the offense around and keep the goalie safe from dangerous shots.
Of course I mostly deviate from some attributes when I don't find enough, but a couple of attributes that will never change are Stamina, Work Rate and Determination. Any defender with bad attributes in those aren't granted a long life in my team because if they can't do their best every single minute they are on the ice, then I don't want them.

Forwards:
Acceleration: 12
Agility: 12
Anticipation: 12
Balance: 12
Determination: 12
Faceoffs: 12+ for centers only
Off the Puck: 13
Passing: 10 (12+ for centers)
Positioning: 12
Speed: 12
Stamina: 13
Team Work: 12
Work Rate: 12
Wristshot: 14

A lot bigger filter for Forwards and just like the defenders, I expect my forwards to give it 100% every time down the ice and people who lack stamina, work rate and determination are fair game for me to trade away. Of course because this filter is very demanding I ramp down most attributes a couple of points but I never budge on the stamina, work rate and determination part. I also look for players with good physicals and also good mental stats because the Technique part is a lot easier to train players in. It's much easier to turn a speedy and hard working center into a star than a guy with great technique but lacking in physical and mental.

I would like to know the philosophies of the others, what do you look for in your players and what are some of the must-have attributes those players must have?

I too would like to know more about user "Attribute expectations" for different player types AND for Staff as well (Assistant GM, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Scout).....I would find such information a helpful reference when creating/editing historical players for the 1974 database
