Will he miss out on his jersey number being retired if he doesn't finish his career with the Devils?

Come on Archi!
It's official now that Suter will be UFA tomorrow ( no real surprise though ). Armstrong as been buy out at Toronto and the Oilers signed a young d-men called Schultz that is supposed to be very good and 26 teams were running after him, though I,ve never heard of him before.

He was Ducks 2nd round pick in 2008 but he didn't want to sign with them so he became UFA this summer.

Wow it seems Marc Bergevin really want to change the look of the Montreal Smurfs. Armstrong and Prust and the comeback of Bouillon, I'm happy for the guy but there is still way too much d-men with him in MTL now.
I forgot to add, Parenteau got WAY too much in Colorado. He was only getting points because of John. Maybe Duchene will do the same thing with him.

Re: Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
Sami Salo signs with Tampa, 2-year contract is worth 7.5mills. Plays probably as Öhlund's pair?
Ducks made 3-year contract with Sheldon Souray worth 11 mills
Jason Garrison goes to Canucks. He will earn 4.6 mills a year for next 6 seasons. Good move after losing Salo, Rome and Schultz.

Marty Brodeur resigns with Devils. They made two-year-contract worth 9 mills.

I'm glad Brodeur re-signed with New Jersey. Like Philou, I don't like seeing great players trying new things at the end of their careers - it puts a real damper on what they had going. Probably the worst offense of all is coming out of retirement

Re: Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
It was too weird to see him somewhere else. Though I wasn't expecting 4,5 millions per year with the financial problem in NJ.
Radulov as officialy signed his KHL contract. Something like 26 millions for four years. Ridiculous......AND GOOD RIDDANCE.
And Gary Buttman reduced the 25 games suspensions of Torres to 21......What the heck is that? What a dumb move.
I'm also surprised that Batdad had not comment with the UFA. He's probably doing some scouting for the Nucks.

That Souray contract for the Ducks is so stupid! Three years at 3.67! What are they thinking?

I'm sorry to see Prust leaving the Rangers. He's a solid guy but, to be fair, he's hardly irreplaceable.
As much as I like him, I just cannot bring myself to watch the Habs!

I agree. And wasn't his last contract thought to be too much and they were looking to unload him? I thought everyone basically thought that Souray was done. Now the ducks give him good money. I don't get it.Manimal wrote:That Souray contract for the Ducks is so stupid! Three years at 3.67! What are they thinking?

They're maybe just trying to fit with the cap. Ridiculous contracts will appear everywhere.

Re: Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
On XM Home Ice radio the main consensus from the hockey guys was that there are a lot of teams that are paying too much for players this off-season. Jordin Tootoo was mentioned: 3 years / 5.7 millionbruins72 wrote:I agree. And wasn't his last contract thought to be too much and they were looking to unload him? They were talking about how the mentality among a lot of the GM's is to spend the money they have now, even though they should save it for later.

Calgary paid Hudler for a 2 year deal with $8M per year! Are you serious?

Re: Official NHL 2012 Off-Season Thread
Speaking of crazy money, NHL Tonight on the NHL Network was reporting rumors yesterday that the Flyers have apparently been the most aggressive in trying to sign Parise and Suter, supposedly offering over $100 million to each.
Again, though, that's just "the word on the street" as they put it.

With the new cap and everything, 4 millions for 50 pts is normal now it seems. Even if it's the first season he's doing that.

Yeah, but what happened to developing your prospects. Calgary is just spending money because they have it.

Yup, new reality. Calgary sucks so much at developing their prospects that they better go with signing UFA.
