Players leaving to NHL

Post by Icetiger2011 »

Hello,
buidling up my own GHL (Global Hockey League), based on the AHL it is very frustrating that I have lost approx 12 players to the NHL trough the season. I understand
that good players will leave, but I lost everybody. Young or old ones, it doesn´t matter. Also players with a contract without an NHL-clause.
Is there anything I can do against it ?

Greetings
Michael

Not likely. YOu may try and change league reputations using the pre game editor. But as long as the league rules state that the player can leave to the NHL re his NHL release clause and NHL being a higher league, not much you can do.

Thanks for the answer.

I moved my "GHL" to Sweden and now I am able to give players contract without NHL-clause, which gives me more fun to play.

Working on my 1974 db I've had some success keeping Russians in Russia by tweaking the Player Home-Current-World Reputations in the Pre-Game Editor (all players involved had a CA of 140-200). By Adjusting Home/Current to between 70-100 and World to about 20 I was able to have the "NHL Release Clause" NOT show up on their contracts at game start-up! This only worked if the player was over age 20
I had a 19 year old player that kept the NHl Release Clause regardless of my tweaking, and I tryed working with League Reputations too without success...YET!
I'm wondering if good, young teenage players need to be in their country's lower/development Leagues and not an "elite" League to avoid being scooped up by the NHL.

P.S. Longest contract length I've been able to get to work seems to be 11 years (expires in 2016-2017).....I haven''t actually simmed that far ahead but things still seem to be working after simming 3-4 seasons ahead.

Thanks for the hint.

I tried it, put the reputation as above (Home & Current 70-100; World 20) and it worked.

Now I have a new league, I put some European and AHL teams together in the GHL (formerly know as AHL) and switched my team to Russian origin. I think the NHL won´t buy me out now. First season done.

Glad to hear it's working out for you!

FYI With the 1974 db it hasn't worked quite as well as I had hoped (my post above is from a year ago), as the issue continues to occur with some players...I am still hopeful as I haven't exhausted all options; I'm hoping further editing (i.e. League/Team Reputation, League/Team Salary, Player Salary) will help...
