MAC Players using Downloads + SGEdit

Post by Demolye »

BACKGROUND:
I have played EHM 2007 on a MAC with X-10.4.11 loaded for a few years.
I have never updated my MAC to any 10.6 products as that breaks 99% of all previous MAC games.
My copy was a purchased (by me) digital download from about fall 2006.
QUESTION:
For using downloads, the SGEditor, or even the face-packs, it seems none are MAC compatible.
I have loaded evem simple things like the face-packs into the data / pictures / player files and even they do not work for me, the old pictures have an .ehg extension and the new ones are .jpg, which one would think would pose no problem as any MAC or PC can open a JPG.
Have no MAC players made any mods or graphic packs, or updated player packs or editors or anything?
It seems most peoples advice is to run the game on a PC (or emulator) which for me means buying a new copy.
What downloads will work on a MAC, are there any?
Or will my only hope for refreshing my interest in the game mean becoming a PC sellout (I mean PC user).

All facepacks and images are compatible with the Mac version. The cause of your difficulty may well be because the dates of birth in the file name don't match what is in the database.

You might be able to get the Saved Game Editor to work using something like CrossOver or WineSkin. You could try using a trial version to see if you can get it up and running like that.

Kudos to you for not caving into Apple's insistence that you always install the latest version of OS X!!

Thanks for the reply.
I checked both WineSkin and CrossOver sites they both appear to be excellent products.
However,
It appears they will not work with anything below 10.6.x

Wineskin 2.5.5+ Works On
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
OS X 10.7 Lion
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

CrossOver 11 (the only ver I saw on their download site), as well needs 10.6 or better.
Their site stated CrossOver 9 works with 10.4.x and other early ver of MAC-X, but I have not yet been able to see where one can DL ver 9.

I am not worried about it, I guess in the end If I wish to use Mods and and player-packs I will need to DL and license a PC ver.

Thanks,

Demolaye.

Face packs work fine on my Mac. You must be doing something wrong.

The Save Game editor only works with PC files, so it won't open your Mac saved game file at all, even if you could get the editor running through emulation.

All the other mods work fine on my Mac (graphics, skins, databases, etc.), with the exception of the updated date database.

Also, it's a Mac... not a MAC.
