Game crash when starting new game

Post by SharksAttack »

I tried to start new game, but as soon as I press "new game" button game crashes. I can load old games without any problems.
It doesn't matter, if I use CSD patch or not.

I tried to install League patch earlier, but couldn't get it work so I copied my original ehm07.exe back to main folder. Could that be the reason?

Try deleting all of the files in your database folder and re-downloading the rosters.

You probably edited something you shouldn't have. :-p

I removed my edited database and now it chrashes again as soon as I press new game button.
I tried same trick I got it work on thursday (re-downloading original database), but it didn't work.

EDIT: Got it work. I deleted every other database than original, edited Lidas 3.1 and edited Manimal 4.2.
But I didn't do anything to any of those databases after thursday, so problem must have been happened earlier.

Did you download any logos or other game add ons? Sometimes those can make the game crash too.

I'm sorry, I'm now sure what it could be. :dunno:

I've encountered a similar thing recently too. No matter what I did, the game would crash. I had to clear out the database folder and place a fresh copy of the database in there.

Do you use Windows Vista or 7? If so: When you have been editing your database, do you use the "Run as Admin" option when loading the Pre Game Editor? If not, you will end up with a second copy of the database in your VirtualStore folder - i.e. C:\Users\<<username>>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Sports Interactive\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database. This is the copy that is actually edited by the Editor (the original copy in C:\Program Files (x86)\ is not actually edited). Therefore you must also use "Run as Admin" when you load EHM too.

You might want to also clear-out / move-out any databases you find in the VirtualStore. These might be contributing to your crash in EHM.

P.s. If EHM is located in "Program Files" rather than "Program Files (x86)" then you'll need to look in VirtualStore\Program Files\ rather than VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\.

I wanted to revisit this. I just had this problem of clicking New Game resulting in a crash and solved it by deleting a single DB. I had copied a copy of the new Manimal 5.0 DB over to play around with my own edits and that was what caused it to pop up apparently.

Does 2007 have a hard limit for the amount of DB's it can handle? I have 19 DB's I think currently, and 20 apparently pushed it over the edge. I like to keep all the retro DB's, plus a copy of my own edits of them available, and then the last couple LIdas/Manimal DB's again with a copy of my own edited versions as well, and then a copy of the blank DB. They add up rather quickly.

Do we need to start recommending to users that they only keep x-amount or less number of DB's active, and leave the rest in there zipped or RARed if you want them? It seems to related directly to having a lot of DB's in there. The game possibly crashes because the DB Selection popup is only capable of displaying so many of them?

Have you tried having another 20th db?
I never have that many. I zip them and keep them somewhere else
