Getting Started & Improving My Team?

Post by wildheart »

Hiya im new to EHM 2005 and need some help'
I have just took over Colorado Avalanche as i read in the walkthrough guide it is one of the easier teams to run.
However im having problems getting my head round tactics and sorting my lines when i do the lines as it says in the walkthrough guide they are totally different from my head coaches lines so i dont know what to do.
Im also having problems aquiring playersive got a list of players that ive seen recommended but cant get any of them except for Erik Cole who i can get quite easily.
Can anyone help me with
a) Tactics and lines
b)Players i should get rid of and who i should aquire.

I know this could technically be called cheating but i love this game and would just like some pointers if possible

I'm not too good with Tactics and lines myself, but seeing as how I usually manage the Hurricanes, I know my players well enough to set them up.

I actually had a real good team going before my game crashed for no reason 2 months into the season. Had a Vrbata - Staal - Cole line that was just racking up points like there was no tomorrow, and a fourth line with Whitney - Cullen - Hall (traded for him).

You just have to experiment until you find combinations that will work for you.

There is a thread a bit further down the page called "Colorado Avalanche Tactics?" in which there were some very good Colorado-specific suggestions given; a more accurate topic will help you out as well so I've provided you one

I've just made a 'sticky' (so it appears at the top of the first page of messages permanently) out of our 'Standard Signings' thread in which we talked about a lot of players that are good additions. Check that one out and it should help you as well.

As for aquisitions the best way really is to hire good scouts and get them out there to cover your own team and then the rest of the league for you so that you can have the reports on players on the other teams and your team to make comparisons. That is a giant help in trades and figuring out who you should keep and who should go. It will limit your errors when making aquisitions as well.

Hiya thanx guys youve been a great help i think my main problem was i was trying to sign to many good players and not worrying about the salary cap so i decided 2 restart my game as Colorado again and sit on my hands instead of trying to buy everyone i could lol.
Ive found a tactic that look promising even tho ive lost my 1st four games but that i think is because i was using a training schedule that has worn my players out.
