Coach Report

Post by Jbcraig1883 »

Hey guys,

Searched for "role", "major role", and "coach reports". I cannot find the answer I am looking for. Feel free to let me know if I missed it.

My question is if I get "doesn't believe he is ready for a major role with the team just yet", does that mean he should stay in a lower league, or does that just mean limited minutes with the big club? I have Dougie Hamilton on my team, he spent the last two years in the minors, cannot crack the top 4, and this is what the coaches say. Should I keep him up for 5-6 d man minutes or keep him in the AHL?

Thanks!

I have always taken that advice as meaning both of what you said - i.e. you could either keep him on your affiliates or give in limited minutes in the NHL. Personally, I go by how he is performing in the affiliate league (the AHL in your case). Is he playing a big part in the team and is he performing well? If he is then I'd try giving him a few games with low minutes in the NHL. If he's not really standing out, I'd probably keep him in the AHL but would perhaps consider calling him up if I get caught out with injuries on my NHL roster.

That's how I had been doing it but seemed that the prospect (in multiple cases) was doing well in the minors but not in the NHL (around 6.5 rating). Stats seemed to decline when not doing well but they also did not progress getting 8+ rating in the minors.

I think it might help to say I do not coach anymore. I have not coached for a long time and perhaps the amount of minutes/pairings are not beneficial for these particular prospects.

Anyway, I appreciate your input.

if he plays in NHL he needs to be with a DMAN that has high influence so he can develope more. he should play 8-10 min on nhl team and 18-23 min on farm team for good growth and preferebly with a older dman. i played as the bruins and in my 1st season he was in juniors 2nd in ahl some nhl maybe 5-6 games due to multiple injuries and 3rd season played him top pairing with Chara great influence for a young dman and hes sprouted great was averaging 7.5+ rating he finished with 12 Goals and 32 Assist and has all stats above 10 and def stats are 16+ . also make sure you have a good defensive coach for practice.
