Hi guys,
hopefully one of you can help. im playing in DMHNL and am the Pittsburgh Penguins GM. i have a guy on my roster who is having "personal problems" and theres an option to give the player a leave of absence. WHen i click on it it asks if im sure if i want him to leave for 2 weeks, then that theres no guarentee he'll come back once its finished!!!!
never seen this before so was hoping someone would shed some light on this matter? where would he go if he doesnt return? is it a good idea to send the guy on leave in the 1st place?
Giving a player leave of absence!?!?!?!?!?!?

Re:
Sorry to dredge up an old thread... I sent a player on a 2 two week leave of absence and now his profile shows that he's on leave for 10 months(!)timmy_t wrote:I have seen this before, and as a GM you have to decide if he is valuable enough to keep on the team. If you don't let him go his low morale could hurt the team in the long run.
If I recall I let the player go on leave and he came back with no problem.

I don't remember seeing a leave go from 2 weeks to 10 months. Is it possible you got a notice in your mail that it changed that you didn't see?
Maybe he went home to take care of his sick grandmother and then got into trouble and sent to jail...

Maybe it's Mike Danton's regen?
I suppose the 10 months is the "no guarantee that he'll come back" part? He was my third overall pick a few years back and has been a complete nutcase ever since. He's been angry at me for 3 years now after I put him on the trading block near the deadline. He'd been doing pretty well in the AHL and was finally ready to make the team this year and then he decided on a 10 month leave of absence!

Yeah FWIW I never have had it go well when I've given someone leave. They never just come back. When that comes up, I take it as a sign to get rid of the player ASAP and let someone else deal with him.

I have had it 3 times....2 times never came back. The third did, and he was a grumpy fool so I traded him. That one was way back when...Alexandre Picard with the Columbus Blue Jackets...back when we played the CBJ challenge in like 2006.

Re: Giving a player leave of absence!?!?!?!?!?!?
I once had this in JRs. My best player was having problems and was absent from practise, and it gave me the option. When he came back, one of my players was outed, and it said he had problems with Sawyer, I looked at Sawyer and it said he hated Taylor, so it was mutual, but my captain also didnt like taylor, and neither did my coach, so I obviously got Taylor out of there
So it might always be the player who wants leave
