Only can dress one goalie..

Post by BBFan417 »

I have one goalie that just got back from Surgery, but is still out for 2 months. If I dress him it says "cannot play". So I only have my starting goalie and this other goalie that "cannot play" and the Options to change so I don't coach is all grayed out. ](*,)

Depending on what level you are playing there are various solutions, if you have a relaible starter makes thing easier since you won't need to find someone to tie your teams' hopes to, just a guy to legally fill the slot. That is one issue... if you are in the North American leagues (AHL, ECHL, Etc) you can do a player search and look for goalies and offer one a "tryout" that lasts eight weeks. On the NHL level you should have someone to bring up from the farm system even if they aren't ready for full time duty. Both of those are fairly quick solutions, you can arrange a tryout in a few days.

The other issue though is your saying things are 'greyed out'; I'm not sure exactly what you mean there but there is a possibility this is due to you having opened either the staff/player search screen or the tactics screen and then using the arrows to navigate away from the screen. Those two screens need to be closed before you can advance the game often times so if that is the problem you just need to hit your 'back' arrow until you find the screen to close and your menus should come 'alive' again.

With more specifics like what league you are playing and when your next match is/what state your game is in I we can help more, otherwise we're just kinda guessing what might help you out.

Ya I guess I was vague, I'm in the AHL and I'm trying to go to the game but it's telling me I need two goalies dressed, so I dress my second goalie and it says that he cannot play in the game and I only have two goalies at the moment.

Do you have any "grey players" that can fill in as backup? This system has always been overly sensitive for me, and I'd be suprised if none were given to you if you have only one playable goalie.

None only two goalies were on the team, I saved the game and restarted and the game let me make the Head Coach coach it and he used the goalie that it wasn't letting me use...

I guess the answer is "yes",but still ask...
Did you place your injured goalie on the injured reserve?

If not so,the game won't give you a fake player to fill the backup role...

If you did it,well...seems the game forget to give you a fake player... Try to put a skater to the backup goalie role (don't know if the games allows it however... :dunno: )

He wasn't which was weird, he only had the yellow Inj mark, and was just getting back from Surgery, and if I dressed him it said "Currently Unavailable for Selection" or something along those lines, but I let the coach, coach the game and he used that goalie as a backup goalie.

If he only has the yellow Inj mark, then he's not on the injured reserve (player profile / action / place on injured reserve...but i think you know how it works ;)).

But if it's only the yellow mark, then he certainly returned to practice, with a light intensity in all areas...so he should be available for games... :dunno:

If he has still over a week before being in full shape, then place him on injured reserve, and the game will give you a fake goalie to fill the backup role,so you'll be able to coach the games yourself.

If he needs more time,well...you can also place him on IR,but he'll certainly miss games he should play... Or you can let your head coach take the control of the games untill full recovery of your goalie...

Hope this would help you...
