EHM 2007 over compensating?
So I've got a team in the Slovakian league. Since it's the wealthiest team in the league, I was able to sign a great bunch of players (like the top 2 rated defensemen in the league, the best goalie, several national team players, guys with NHL experience, best prospects, etc...). The start of the season went great, the team was scoring maybe an average of 4 or 5 goals per game. In the middle of the season something weird happened and it seems that every other game the team only scores 1-2 goals and even (gasp) gets shut out by bottom of the table teams, which is totally ridiculous IMO (a team I beat 9:4 beats me in the middle of the season 5:0).
Is the game trying to compensate somehow to keep the stats what it would consider realistic?
Also, some offensive players seem to have ridiculously low productivity numbers, while just a year earlier they were in the league's top 10 (now averaging less than 0.5PPG).
To provide more info, I have signed the best coaching staff available, have a balanced team with youngsters and older players as well. I checked with the rosters of other teams, and have by far the best team with most depth.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks and have a nice day!

The AI learns your tactics and adapts to it.
You need to switch tactics from time to time

And if I have a head coach coaching my games? Is there anything I can do?

So I ran a test, I lost 4 games in a row, costing me the league lead. After that, I won 5 straight games. Pretty frustrating. A chimp on the bench could win with that team, yet they lose 4 in a row, after that they win 5 games as if nothing ever happened. I don't know, but this seems kinda weird to me

That's just hockey for you. It's not like soccer/football, where you can pretty much know for sure who's going to win just by looking at the rosters. Players get their highs and lows, as does the whole team.

Listen to Manimal. You are the one that decides the tactics, not the coach. Him coaching the game doesn't effect what you have in the tactics screen if you are telling him to do what you want (w/e option that it is). Teams will learn to line match you and work against your tactics so that you can't just use the same tactics forever and not change them. I often hit that wall at the 40 game mark in the challenges.

jexterx7769: Thanks man, didn't know that. That might explain why this happens to me every season.
Tasku: Bravo, I've obviously never played or watched hockey, ever. Your comment really helped me understand the EHM game better.

I was just pointing out that you can't always automatically expect you'll win if you have the better team, as you said you thought it was unrealistic that you lost to a team that is worse than your own.delaiah wrote: Tasku: Bravo, I've obviously never played or watched hockey, ever. Re: EHM 2007 over compensating?
No, I said: "I lost 4 games in a row", all to teams who's players are nowhere near the quality of my players (see my first comment) + I added examples of what's happened, including a drastic decline in scoring. So please, stop putting words in my mouth I didn't say, I obviously wouldn't bother to post here if I lost a single game to a team I consider weaker than mine. Thanks.Tasku wrote:I was just pointing out that you can't always automatically expect you'll win if you have the better team, as you said you thought it was unrealistic that you lost to a team that is worse than your own.delaiah wrote: Tasku: Bravo, I've obviously never played or watched hockey, ever. You seem to be taking it as I'm trying to pick a fight with you. I was just trying to help.

To be fair though, there were a few things you said that left the impression that you think your team should be winning because they're stronger.delaiah wrote:So please, stop putting words in my mouth I didn't say...
Now, I'm not trying to fan any flames or derail your thread or anything - just suggesting that maybe you're jumping on Tasku a bit unfairly here.

Re: EHM 2007 over compensating?
Man... I mentioned a drop off in players productivity, overall team scoring and a losing streak in league where it simply wouldn't occur in real life with such a team. Manimals and jesterx7769 tip actually solved it for me - 2 seasons later, this never happened again, productivity is consistent, won the championship twice, all is good.B. Friendly suggestion: maybe it's better not to assume that someone who actually is playing a hockey management game and uses hockey jargon actually doesn't know how hockey works or what's realistic for his home league, or hockey as a game. Or at least ask politely. I feel "That's just hockey for you" is just a smart ass response based on nothing, which doesn't help in any way.
Anyway, I'm letting this be, not much sense in arguing over the internet. To those I have offended: please accept my apologies. And thanks to Manimal and jesterx7769 for the help, much appreciated

Yeah, no worries, and I do understand that "that's just hockey for you" might sound like I was assuming you don't understand the game. Not my intention at all, and I apologize for the mix up. I guess I was kind thinking out loud, you could say, if that makes any sense. Like "that's just how it goes" or something like that.
Doesn't really matter anyhow. Welcome to TBL

Re: EHM 2007 over compensating?
You're Welcome. It can be quite frustrating and I struggled with it during the first challenges I was a part of. It is hard when you find a good PP/tactics that dominate and then you just can't do anything. When it is a team you know try to have at least two different settings that should work tactics wise, obviously roll with the better one. However once I hit that wall I immediately change now for at least 10 games before going back. Not sure how "Accurate" my strategy is from a mathematics coding standpoint but it seems like you have figured it out.

Tasku - np, thanks for the welcome

jesterx7769 - yup, that's roughly how I do it now. I used to play the original EHM that way, I just wasn't aware that if I let my coach change tactics, I still have to edit them too.
