The AI undervalues/overvalues players

In certain circumstances, the AI undervalues its players thereby making it easier to sign them from the AI team. Example:

- If the player is currently injured


In other circumstances, the AI can overvalue players. This makes it easier to use those overvalued players to use a trade baif for bigger players. Examples:

- The trade engine also seems to over-value prospects. There should really only be one or two prospects on each team that will get you a very solid value.

- Sometimes immediately after the draft, the drafted players will be overvalued. E.g. it is possible to trade a player just drafted in the first round in exchange for Ovechkin.

Generally-speaking, the AI will eventually give up a player if your throw enough rubbish against the way (Bruins72's words, not mine!). The more players involved in the trade the easier it is to confuse the living daylights out of AI GMs. The game needs to take into account for player salaries, the cap, team needs, and what kind of a stage the team is in (rebuilding, maintaining, going for a Cup). All of these things can change the value of a player (again, Bruins72's words).

Does anybody have any other examples of where the AI undervalues or overvalues players?

Not sure if this goes here, but sometimes the AGM of the team I am trading with acts like he is my AGM. Says things like...we will not move a future superstar like that guy off your roster.

IE I am gm of flyers and offer a trade of Giroux to Chicago for a 1st, and a prospect. Chicago AGM says, we will not move Giroux because we see him as a future superstar. Or something to that effect.

Or the AGM of the other team looks out for my cap hit, and acts as though his team is over the cap even though are 10 mill under it, and tells me cannot make trade because will put my team over the cap. Not his problem, that is mine.

I have seen both of these things and thought it was very odd. Glad I am not the only one.

Also, I sometimes see 1st round picks being Undervalued right after the draft. For example, I have offered a later pick (late 1st rounder or 2nd rounder) to the AI for a 1st rounder that was taken before the player I am offering. Why not just take him instead of the player the AI took instead? It makes no sense.

As you get further along in the game...you start to see the AI really make odd choices more often in terms of players.

They get close to the cap, and they start to waive star players. Not even old guys, but guys 25-33 or so who have big deals.

In the game I am currently playing the Edmonton Oilers have waived a 26 year old stud Leon Draistl who is scoring left and right. He is now in the minors and has 44 points in35 games.

the Canes waive Patrick Kane who has been with them for 13 years and is a scoring machine.

The AI in this case needs to be looked at in order to re assess what they do to get to the numbers they need to. Maybe they should be looking at sending other guys down, or should be looking to trADE. But really, they should not be overspending so badly
