Form Dramatically Better?

Post by DirkHardpeck »

Okay, I might be really new, but I can't really find much using the search bar about what exactly affects a player's form

I traded Bergfors and Eminger close to the trading deadline because it had looked like he'd hit his peak, his overall form wasn't going anywhere and he was producing roughly the same stats each year. I still had him on my shortlist, however, and a little while later I'm getting notifications on Bergfors. I go to check the stats and he's playing dramatically better!
I go check on Eminger, and he's doing EVEN BETTER ](*,)

So I was wondering if anyone could explain what causes things like this? I have a few players who seem to be really underperforming this year.

A change of scenery, better coaching for his style of play, a better team system for his style of play, better chemistry with his line mates, proper line role, etc. Theres a lot of reasons why a player would do better after a trade

I'd hate to sack Keenan after like, five years and two Stanleys, but would bringing in a new head coach possibly kick the team back into gear?

Don't sack your coach if you're winning stanleys! :-D

Obviously I don't want to do that, but I don't exactly know how to try and improve the team from here. I'm not well versed in the game, and I feel like something went majorly wrong for someone like Eminger to drop from an 8 to a 6.7, and then bounce back to a 7.3 right after being traded. Or Bergfors jumping half a rating right after a trade and doubling his stats.

Something just seems really off..

Bergfors probaby playing line higher and some PP or something and his stats went up and better.

Dont worry about Goalies....my in EHM05 normaly have average from 6,9 to 7,0 and im winning Stanleys...so for me if they are like that they are good and normal :-D

You have to tweak your tactics. The AI learns how you play.
Not all tactics works for all players, either

what lines were they playing on for you compared to what lines they are playing with a new team? What line they are on is huge.

I was generally shuffling him between the fourth and second lines. The Yotes now have him on the second line and a PP or something, the season's over now and I can't go back and check for sure.

Though now that I step back and think about it, I don't think me setting the lines and having the coach do the tactics really helps anything.

if he was playing all the time on 2nd line and PP then ofcoruse he has 7+ and better stats.

I always do the tactic and lines...if i dont know sometimes which guy to pick for any of the positions i leave it empty and let the HC fill the missing spot. Lets say i have 2 LW that can play in 2nd or 3rd line and dont know who to give advantage so i leave in those two lines empty LW spots and click on let the HC pick between them....and then try to figure it out why he done that :-D

It isn't about tactics or your coaching staff attributes, it is about what lines they are playing on. I am sure your tactics/coaching staff are good enough especially if you are winning championships.

If you are playing someone on the fourth line and no PP they are never going to be getting "8" ratings for you over a season. You are winning the cup so you're team is good and these guys are relegated.

However once they go to another team and this team puts them on the 2nd and PP line all of a sudden they are getting more points and therefore higher ratings. For the most part points, +/-, hits are the only things I have really noticed that effect form.

This happens all the time to me and I am sure other users. You do not resign someone because they are on your 3rd line then next year they are getting 30 goals because they are on first line for another team. However because they were on our 3rd line and not PP they are never going to get the 30 goals for you as well.
