It matters if you're going to be a team like Chicago...those contracts signed by Kane and Toews are reliant on an increasing cap lol
It was a problem for me with my Penguins game: Having 3 players accounting for 1/3 of the salary cap (Crosby + Malkin + Letang) was painful to manage in my first offseason.
Currently have Ottawa in the first season. Things aren't going so good. I'm in January right now. Methot struggled early, but seems to be playing better now. Anderson won't return for another 3 months. I'm hoping for a stronger second half. The team wasn't expected to do every well anyways.

Looking at the EHM2007 version of the TBL 7.3 rosters with the pre-game editor, Jon Cooper has only one attribute set... tactics at 16, the others are "0", which means will be randomly generated based on his CA. This means you'll see that on all games you start he'll have 16 for tactics but the other attributes will be random.

What does CA means?
Does this means that Cooper can have any value between 1 and 20? Or that he can have any value between X and Y (X and Y being defined by some hidden attributs)?
Started a Flyers GM, wanted to get McDavid but after losing many games without the meaning to tank I realised I don't have a pick that's mine in the 1st round of the draft. I have lost 16 games straight and I have no clue what to do now.

You can always try to land McDavid in a trade, after the draft..
I did so, twice. Thought, I cannot land him this time, in my third game.
OR
You could try to trade back for your 1st pick?

To be honest, I don't even know which team has it.. Is there a way to find out without scrolling through all of the teams? It looks like I will finish dead last, so I am pretty worried about the whole draft pick situatuion

For me, in 4 different career, he consistently scored more than 40 goals for the 2014-2015 season.
Wow. Not sure how realistic that is. He's never been that big a goal scorer but I do know he was really injury prone. Still he should never be out scoring Crosby lol

Ah that explains it, yeh I'm using the 7.3 rosters. Another thing I noticed was that he's set as US nationality...he's from BC isn't he?
Here are the results of my first season with Toronto.
Everything slowed down during the second half of the season. Before then, after ~40 games, Kessel was on pace for 80+ goals. lol
I went one to win the cup. Only lost 1 game during the playoffs...

After 26 games, 22 wins, 4 lost, 44 points. Ahead 9 points of Tampa Bay. 1st overall in scoring and defending with 113 GF and 58 GA. Pacioretty leading both in goals and points NHL Leaders with 24 goals and 44 points. Looking for a 70 goals season, 135 points right now if everything continue like this!
The only bad thing is the PP%, only 21st in the league with 18.6%, but 1st in PK with 88%. But we score so many goals even, I can't really blame the team for the PP!
Finished 12th in the East in my second season with the Sabres, getting really sick of losing now.
I think my squad is finally ready to challenge for the playoffs though:
Signing John Gibson on an offer sheet with just a 1st and a 3rd as compensation is the steal of the century. Really liking the balance between speed and toughness in my squad.

Search in the "Draft" section. And on "picks" you'll see it
It was noted that the 1st pick from Philadelphia was moved to Tampa Bay in the last Roster update.
(It was an error, it should of been TB 1st pick that belongs to Philly because of the Coburn trade.)
The addition of a new manual is awesome. Really cleared up a few attributes, specifically I had no idea that aggression was a balance between technicality and assertiveness.
