Official™ NHL Season 2006-2007 Games Discussion

Post by Minstrel »

A quick word to start off about "spoilers"; here's how our current policy on the topic works: it's up to you. :dunno:

So, if you don't want to see scores and/or details of an NHL game you might have upcoming on a delayed broadcast or on your DVR or on a tape then don't read the NHL thread until you've check out the game, it's that simple. :nerd:

This will be the thread for discussion of NHL regualr season games; if an "incident" or injury or big trade etc occurs that you think will have people discussing just that for a dozen+ messages then feel free to post that as a separate topic :tiptap:

If you're just wanting to talk about the day's games, big performances, how players looked, those kinds of things then post here in the Season thread

Woohoo! Finally hockey comes back! (I no longer consider Swedish hockey hockey.)

The Wings' lineup will look something like this (I think):

Franzén - Datsyuk - Williams
Cleary - Zetterberg - Samuelsson
Hudler - Lang - Holmström
Kopecky - Draper - Maltby

Lidström - Kronwall
Markov - Schneider
Lebda/Chelios/Lilja

Banners go up at 6:45, faceoff at 7:13!

Hockey's back!!!!! :joy:

Warning: OLD MAN RANT:

I get the always thrilling and exciting Sens Leafs matchup followed by the scintillating goaltending of Theodore and Turco. WAHOOO! What a way to start the season TSN...Ummm Carolina vs Buffalo maybe? Nah, we know those guys in Vancouver love to see the Loafs play the Sens. I think we get it for the 25th time in January.YAY! GO LOAFS GO! arrgh.

Anyone heard this about the Leafs-Sens yet: " Will the Leafs be able to overcome the jinx they have had playing the Sens? Yeah, its a jinx...not a Heatley, Alfredsson, Spezza or Redden. A jinx! God Toronto Sports Network SUCKS!

I know many USA fans will say we get games on TV in Canada so stop whining you Canadians and enjoy. Well I say...USA guys stop watching bowling and freaking poker so that US networks will show games and we get some real hockey on TV here.

Let me guess..ON Saturday on CBC who plays Leafs vs Habs or Leafs vs Sens? Again. Great Bob and Harry...WAHOO!

Bob Cole: "McCAbe dumps it in there...Sens dump it out. Save made by that guy who plays goal for Sens" The Sens dump it in there. McCabe to Kaberle to Sundin...LEAFS SCORE. Listen to that crowd Harry"

Harry Neale: Yeah Bob its like Hulk Hogan just pulled out the pythons and beat the rubbish out of Brutus the Barber Beefcake..so now its 10-1 Ottawa. Man, Sundin is amazing eh Bob"

Bob: "Yeah Harry he is, but I tell you those kids on the Sens...Jason Alfredsson and Wade Heatley they may one day be as great as Inge Hammarstrom was back when I was 60 years old"

Harry: "Yeah Bob, but when?"

Intermission: Don Cherryu: "Oooh I love that Dougie Gilmour...isn't he from Kingston. Great town that Kingston. The Killer I tell ya, he is the best leaf ever. What's he got 10 goals this year?"

AYEEE! I never thought I would say I want Bill Clement on my TV, but at least it ain't these 90 year old morons.

How 'bout that Dougie Gilmour? And Tie in the studio this year I'm sure will be the topic of many glowing reviews by Cherry.

Although I agree Bob Cole is almost as useless as Pat Quinn, I don't understand your hate for Don Cherry. The guy promotes Canadian hockey like no other in the world, is always looking out for player safety, and above all loves hockey with everything he has.

Nah...I don't hate Don Cherry. I just hate his Kingston comments that used to come out of his mouth constantly. I love alot of his points, especially the safety part. However, some of his schtick can be so annoying and not based in fact as we all know. Just the schtick where he hates Europeans, and he equates French hockey players with being too soft.

What does he know about it??? Only 2 french guys play(ed) in the NHL. Huet, now with the Habs, and Philipe Bozon, who played 3 years in St. Louis... Not a lot of materials to build a judgement...

The Sabres have a nice powerplay. :-p

Gleason looked like a stud. I'm so glad we got him.

Snuggles is our new Marek Malik.

Letowski played pretty good on a line with Williams and Brindy.

Cole - Staal - Whitney was amazing.

Walker - Belanger - Ladd was also amazing.

Larose is alot faster than I remember him being last year.

Hedican played at about 70% due to hip surgery and didn't show it one bit.

Tim Gleason is a beast.

Tim Gleason had the most minutes out of everybody.

The Swedish guy behind me really hated Tallinder and I now know many expressions such as Where is your gold medal, Tallider? and Central Park, Stockholm Tallinder in Swedish.

Tim Gleason is a stud.

Snuggles is terrible.

Why did we resign Snuggles?

The Sabres got lucky goals.

Ryan Millers new mask is awesome.

The Banana Slugs should go back to their old jerseys.

That is inSTAALed's incredibly hard to read review of the game last night.

As a result of what happened to Kris...I will say nothing about the Canucks Red Wings game, and the players involved there. I am grinning right now in Vancouver though.
