I knew it would come. It's Not as in Russia, where Mr. Putin pumped millions in the sport (Sometimes I would wish it to me for many sports /athletes here , but that does not allow our jurisprudence). Each association must finance itself. The grants that exist here are a joke. Have as already written. At the beginning of this year, our German ice hockey Association would almost went bankrupt. It could only be averted, because the DEL and DEL2 again under the Association are and do not cook their own soup. I'm talking not only of Germany. But generally small ice hockey nations.

And personally I am fully satisfied with our performance at this World Cup. We are not relegated. We were missing a lot of players. Better once 10: 0 against Canada lose, than losing all the games. We played well against Sweden and the Czech Republic. Against Sweden earned point not taken. Defeat against Switzerland was the worst.

That's the federation for one of our states. The one for the country is CBDG (http://www.cbdg.org.br/) which governs all "ice" sports.

Ice hockey here is very very limited due to lack of rinks. Inline is more common (but still very very unknown to the general population). "Team Brazil" ice hockey will compete in Mexico in the upcoming Pan American Ice Hockey Tournament, however players are composed of inline players who will also take the ice.

There are basically no leagues here, just tournaments that take place on extended holiday weekends. People who play for the national team will have transportation and food taken care of when with the national team, other than that all players are amateurs. Nobody get's paid playing hockey here as teams have no income.

If you see people playing here you'll know they really love the game due to how expensive it is to import equipment, how difficult it is to find a location to play as most club managers are scared to have their floors messed up, any and all hockey related story in the media is due to violence (mcsorley, bertuzzi, etc...) so people not in the known are not very accepting.

A larger tradition. Every child grows up with a football. Football is much much much more broadcast on television (much more money for the Association). In every third village there is a football pitch. To build a football field a lot cheaper than building an ice hall. I can probably name a dozen other reasons, but you would not understand anyway.

Because football is the no.1 sport in germany.......ice hockey is (i'm guessing here) no.15.
the same in my country austria. Alpine Skiing is No.1 followed by Football (Soccer) and No. 22 is Icehockey. Hockey is a marginalized sport here. 0 percent interest in the media. no infrastructure (30 ice-rinks in the whole country), i bet the citys of toronto or moscow has that number alone. a very small player pool, no good trainers for the youngsters and no money for the hockey-sport.

but you are right when you say, that no one prevents a country to spend more money in hockey sports. but it will never happen.

That's right. The Scandinavian countries (particularly Finland) are a model / example for many Germans. Especially education. I do not know where your secret is? You are just all-rounder.

Good lord Djskek. Sure the NHL has lots of good players and money etc. But um...where did those guys in the NHL develop? Not in the moneyed NHL program. In their minor hockey programs which are organized and run.

You saying hockey in Canada is not like Football,soccer or whatever in Germany is rubbish. Period. EXACTLY THE SAME THING> YOu have more players and a better development program, so you have a team that can pound Canada. We have that in hockey.

Germany if it chose to...could put money and develop a proper hockey program. CLearly you do not want to as a nation. So that means you will not have a top level team, and there is no way in hell Canada should send over weaker players to keep the score better. Good lord.

While it is impressive as Canada plays, but still does everything no sense.(The roster is too strong compared to the other teams) I have some hope for the stronger teams, but not really. Canada will notch up one's performance and make short work.
