Does that mean I can trade them any time during the following season or just at the end of each season?

Stone-read the rules in announcement thread. Any non trade periods will be there. Not sure there are any.

Right. That first season you must trade all of the older guys and you must do it before the draft. From the second season on, you're allowed to but not required to trade players of the veteran age (for that season) and up.

I can't wait for this 1st season to end. I think Canucks fans are gearing up for a lynching in the streets, and I'm the one their looking at lynching.

batdad wrote:Lol at all the different trades. So cool. Some common names out there but live that mine are so different from all else I see. Gotta say b72 your team looks solid. Love your deals.
Those who dealt with Oilers Flames Hawks and Bruins are bad boys. Not brad Boyes.
I like my moves but I am not sure my team will be as strong as some comes season 3 as I dealt for Zero picks.
Yeah, I love all of the different trades people are making. There are so many possibilities for different teams in this challenge. It's also a good way for us to test out the trade engine! There are a lot of players I've seen in other people's trades that I remember working into deals during my tests with the Canucks and Wild.
My team looks solid but I haven't been able to get them to perform the way I want them to. Tarasenko has performed well. Kreider and Silfverberg have been pretty good. Beyond that, I'm not very impressed. I haven't been able to get Bjugstad to perform too well for me. And as much as I like Lindblohm, he's not really doing as well as I expected. Markstrom seems to be emerging as my starter but he's not that great. Have I mentioned that I hate Conacher? I think he'll be my non-veteran trade for season 2.
This is what my lines look like...

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
In my test...Conacher in each of the two seasons I played SUCKS for the first 15-20 games, then starts to play for about 30 games...then sucks for 10-15 then plays hard to end the season. But he is so annoying. I hate Riz and his smurf love for EHM EA. Want to go back to the big guy love.
B72-Sbisa on the first pair? Oh god I feel for you. I cannot wait til he turns 28. Likely Tanev too.
I just hit July 1. Slow start to this game with all the trading and thinking I had to do. Now for staff.

Sbisa is eleventh in scoring for defensemen in my game, although he is a -13. On my team that's pretty good.batdad wrote:

You heard it here first folks! Batdad wants to go back to big guy love.batdad wrote: Want to go back to the big guy love.

Yeah, I threw Sbisa up there hoping his offensive abilities might help. Maybe not.batdad wrote:B72-Sbisa on the first pair? Oh god I feel for you. I cannot wait til he turns 28. Likely Tanev too.

Thanks for this! I'll see what I can do! I don't mind disciplining Bieksa.Peter_Doherty wrote:And for the NTCs i just set their status as not needed and put them on the block, that worked with everyone except Bieksa who i had to discipline.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
My staff is this,
Ass GM; Joel Quenneville
Head Coach; Claude Julien
Ass Coaches; Gulutzan, Melanson, Oates, Takahashi, McKee
In Utica it's like this;
GM; Brent Sutter
Ass GM; Al MacIsaac
Head Coach; Clint Malarchuk
Ass Coaches; A bunch of guys i have no idea who they are but they work well with youngsters
Just played my first 12 games, winning sure is hard with this team, sitting on 2-9-1... Overall though the players are doing OK, they just aren't any better, losing most games by 1 or 2 goals. Goaltending is an issue but i will just stick with it and hope for the best, hopefully someone steps up or Demko becomes a beast, otherwise i will have to go into crisis mode in a season or two.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
I got Boucher as my head coach too. Kept Rollie. I'm assuming Joel the Stache is Joel Otto? I got him too. Who is the Chief? Over in my area, that's Bucyk.
My staff...
HC: Boucher
Assistants:
Goalie Coach: Rollie Melanson
Conditioning: Barry Brennan
Conditioning: Jim Paek
Defense: Joel Otto
Offense: Greg Carvel
My 2015 Draft:
Rd 1 #12 Nick Merkley
Rd 1 #28 Jordan Greenway
Rd 2 #42 Matthew Spencer
Rd 2 # 51 Chaz Reddekopp
Rd 4 #102 Jesper Lindgren
Rd 5 #132 Jay Merkley
Rd 5 #147 Alexandre Caron-Roy
Rd 6 #162 Kevin Spinozzi
So yeah, after 20 games, I'm sitting at the bottom of the conference.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
OK, posting my trades which literally went down to the line. Burrows was the only player requiring discipline before accepting a trade. I was tempted to send Bieksa to Boston, though. Ooh.

As you can see, Ryan Miller and the Sedins were traded away just as I needed to accept the Entry Draft start. But I got it done.
My 4-line Team Report:
Baertschi - Bonino - Kassian
Conacher - Kuznetsov - Dorsett
McMillan - O-Brien - Vey
Sestito - O'Reilly - Jensen
Tanev-Sbisa
Stanton-Weber
Sanguinetti-Ouellet
Markstrom-Eriksson ?? Lack is listed at #3 on my goalie depth chart. Hunh.
For draft picks, I have:
Rd 1 - 12th, 15th, 25th, 28th, 29th.
Rd 2 - 42nd.
Rd 3 - 74th, 82nd.
Rd 4 - 98th, 102nd, 111th, 112th.
Rd 5 - 132nd, 147th.
Rd 6 - 162nd.
And the draft begins now...

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Stache is Coach Q. Chief is Berube. I knew people would ask on that. Ron Delorme, Chris Simon and a few others have been known as Chief as well. Not racist at all that one.
Berube is simply my conditioning coach. That is all he will do. Thought about Otto as well but had him in Philly challenge.
Both Merkleys sucks in my game real bad. Jay went undrafted and he got injured for 6 months the day Swift Current release him. Nick went to the Wild right after my pick and I did look at him, but he just wasn't doing it for me. We shall see how he does. Not sure if he will do that well. Looks worse than Horvat does at game start and Bo ends up in most games in the 2nd line area after 4-5 years. Spencer was a big consideration for me, as was Spinozzi. Let me know how those guys turn out ofr you.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
First quarter done, this is actually going worse then i expected... 2-17-1, less then optimal
The annoying part is that most losses are 1-goal games...
Atleast i have some things going for me, Kreider-Bjugstad is playing great on my first line, Kreider is 10+9 while Bjugstad is 7+10. Conacher is also doing good with 15 points, Bonino has 12 and Sanguinetti (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) has 11. Rest of the team is doing OK considering expectations, except for my 6th D where i alternate Olsen and Sbisa, both are useless. Acton was also useless so he's benched now, i should probably get Tierney or Jensen up from AHL but i'm going with McMillan instead since this season is over anyways
Neither Markström or Läck can save a beach ball but i'll give them time, think the biggest problem is that the entire team just isn't ready for this, their play might (hopefully) get better as the team gets better.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Got another question how does it work when i want to send players from my pro roster to ahl team and they get claimed??? Is it allowed or not?Like for example Luca Sbisa
