Need better explanation on "transfer_rules_config.cfg"

Post by Chemich »

I've read the directions carefully, but I don't know how to change the NHL's salary cap.

Should I use "National Hockey League" for it? I'd like someone who has successfully made this change to answer, because I'm confused as to how to make these changes such as roster limit removals, etc...

If anyone could pastebin / screenshot an example config (that works with the NHL being edited,) i'd be extremely grateful. Because so far no matter what I do makes ultimately no change.

Here's mine:

"SALARY_CAP" "National Hockey League" 71499000
"SALARY_FLOOR" "National Hockey League" 52699000

Simply change the numbers to whatever you like. Change the league to whatever you like. Voila.

Thanks man the budget is finally where I wanted it to be, any chance would you know how to assign individual teams caps?

I tried through editing the rosters but for some reason it isn't working anymore.

In pregame editor you can set team budgets under the club category

When you're making your changes/edits, are you then importing the database into EHM:EA?

Yes, doing exactly that.

Do the club salary settings not work anymore?

Edit: also I'm editing the standard EHM:EA transfer rules config as well to match the rosters. any advice for a guy just trying to figure out how to make unlimited salary for every team? lol

Thanks for the awesome responses either way, i tried the "sigames" forum but as per usual no response there (pretty much dead there.)

I'm assuming they may have coded the individual clubs at a hard-locked cap, so maybe editing the database is entirely pointless for that.

So far player editing works fine, but that's not what I'm aiming to do.

I just want unlimited League and individual club cap for the NHL, though so far it doesn't seem to be a promising work in progress.

Does this also work for individual clubs as well? Even if you have an unlimited salary cap, if the clubs don't allow for it you can't do diddly squat with all that League cap.

Like I said, edit the database with the pregame editor.
Go to clubs.
In that section, find the clubs you want to have unlimited money. Set the budget to 0 or to however high you want, and then set club money as high as you want (optional) but not to 0. You will be poor :p

Yeah, sadly no matter what I do or what I attempt the salary cap is always limited one way or another.

Just going to say this isn't possible in this version of the game yet, I'll uninstall and wait for them to make player editing and finance / club / league editing possible in the EHM client itself.

Oh well, was worth a shot.

Changing player budget to 0 causes the game to determine an appropriate value by looking at the team and league reputation, I think. Also, if you set it too high it will not affect anything. The maximum you can have is 2,147,483,647 (32-bit limit), although I have only ever made it that high in a saved game, not with Pre-Game Editor.
