Have anyone else noticed when media talk up a player on a streak, he tend to fail in the next game. Say a player has a 10 game point streak, it seems without fail, I see another news item on the player after he played the next game saying his point streak came to a halt.
Just had this happen too Huberdeau. He had scored in a number of games in a row, news pop up about this. Quietly said to myself he would now not get a point in the next game. Sure thing, he didn't and a news item about his streak coming to an end showed up of course.
How's that? I'm not just talking about my players here, but the league in general (ex: Duchane had the exact same thing day after Huberdeau) over several years now. For all I know the players get put under extra pressure by this. Not even mad about it, just found it a bit funny how it happens. There are plenty of other things in this game I could come up with that probably is more of a confirmation bias.
I tend to agree that it's a confirmation bias (you notice things change once you've already noticed they haven't changed), though it would be easy enough for the developers to confirm that there is, or isn't, coding in place that would affect that particular stat. Another question is whether or not the media reports EVERY player that is on a streak, or just a random player on a streak.
Similar events are notices where Player X has gone 25 games without a goal, and *bing* next game, he pots one. I remember one instance of being told of TWO players that had gone 25 games without scoring, and they both scored in their next game.
So it's ODD...but could still be a coincidence.
I would like to know, instead of media talking UP a player, if there's any effect, or if I'm supposed to take action, when the media says things like, "Player X will never live up to his contract." or "If Player X was on his team, he'd never tolerate the recent performances." or whatever. When the media trashes a guy, what is the point, in terms of gameplay?
The point is, the player may be upset by it -- and also by or by the lack of your reaction. I almost always defend the player, except if he's been really bad. Then I "decline to comment".

Abolutely, there are certainly streaks coming and going without the news items. The news items usually only pop up when a player is on a longer streak.
Statsman1 does bring up a good point though. Does these news items come up for every player or just certain players? Will certainly be looking into that a bit more moving forward.
