Can't send youngsters to the AHL

Post by Epic »

Thought playing with the Coyotes would be a great fun and amazingly I didn't finish last in the first season. I'm in the off-season now and have a problem. For some reason I can't send some youngsters (Nick Merkley, Christian Fischer) down to the AHL. They all have 2-way contracts, but there isn't an option to send them to a farm club unlike others like Domi and Duclair. Why is that?

Junior players under 20 can't play in AHL if they played in CHL. You could send down therefore send down an European youngster down to the AHL. Your option is to send them back to junior leagues, or keep them in your team. If you're in the offseason, then you should keep those guy up in the main roster !

Just a rare technicality, you can send anyone to the AHL (even under 20) if they don't have junior rights, usually that's just European players but there are odd situations (like college players sometimes) where a North American doesn't have junior rights.

Will the "send back to junior" option appear closer to the season?

I think it's either there or it isn't, the only difference being that if you send a player back to junior before the junior season starts, they just bounce back to your roster and say their loan finished.

Reached September and the option appeared. Thank you for explaining the situation. Was worried for a while that I'll be stuck with some scurbs, who are still far from NHL quality.
