EHM will not start and/or crashes at start-up

I found the files and they look complete. I even attempted to run the game as an administrator from the icon in the folder and still nothing.

Check on task manager that ehm.exe process is running?

It shows up and starts to run and then immediately closes. I can see it in task manager then it just disappears. No message about it shutting down.

Dusted off my old laptop that runs windows 7 also, but has a bum battery, and it seems to work fine. I'm thinking it has something to do with this computer. Will have to look into it a little more. I will still take any ideas.

Ok...new problem. I got the game to run on the first laptop, but now it says I don't have enough space to save the game, even though I have 83GB of space.

Ideas?

Strange. Did you check the path where it is saving the game? Maybe it's trying to save it to the Windows drive (C:), and you have 83gb in some other drive?

It is saving it into EHM folder that was created in my documents. Should be plenty of room. I asked about this over on the SI boards and the answer I received was that this was a problem a while ago, but now is fixed. Obviously, I'm either really lucky or really unlucky, depending on how you look at it.

Have you tried changing the path in preferences? Or does it still claim "no space".

I have and get the same response. I also get a warning about "get_number_of_human_staff: doesn't exist" when I quit the game.

I'm no expert, but a few things to take a look at:

1. What version are you trying to run? (patch version). Why I asked on the SI boards was to make sure you had the patches that were 'supposed' to fix the problem (and if it didn't fix, to flag Riz's attention)

2. Have you tried a new installation?

3. What addon files have you downloaded, if any? If you're getting that far, which database are you trying to work with?

4. Are you opening from steam, or just by opening the program? (Not sure if it matters, but you never know)

5. Do you have it set to run as admin?

6. Last very doubtful one- do you have any virus blocker running? It's remotely possible (and I'm no expert) that it's the anti-virus blocking it.

That's all I've got. Hopefully everyone can find a solution!

I'm running 1.0.2

2. Have you tried a new installation?

I have installed and uninstalled at least 3 times.

3. What addon files have you downloaded, if any? If you're getting that far, which database are you trying to work with?

I have tried the default roster and the newest update from here. I also downloaded the NPF facepack and the logo pack off of the workshop.


4. Are you opening from steam, or just by opening the program? (Not sure if it matters, but you never know)
I have tried both. Neither works

5. Do you have it set to run as admin?
Tried running as an admin but makes no difference.

6. Last very doubtful one- do you have any virus blocker running? It's remotely possible (and I'm no expert) that it's the anti-virus blocking it.
I don't currently have a virus blocker running

That's all I've got. Hopefully everyone can find a solution!

Whenever I try to open ehm, the first for screens go great, and then the screen where yo select the game crashes. Any possible solutions?

Try uninstalling the game and using the default rosters to begin with. It might be a modified DB that is causing the issue (if it is, for instance, crashing when trying to start a new game).

Should I remove everything I installed (facepacks, backgrounds)?

Yeah I'd say remove everything and start afresh. If/when you get it up and running then install your addons one by one.

In case you didn't notice, the new patch included an option to disable the disk space check. So if you can start your game, go to preferences and untick the box for verifying disk space before a save. Maybe now you can save the game without this error?

I've tried several things to get work my ehm (run as admin , change resolution , install , ) , but i still have an error when i start ehm (unable to inisialise the sound - pleases chek dirextx)

Well, XP is ancient. You really should upgrade, just for the sake of online security.

I made a post on the sports interactive forum but nobody responded so I figure maybe one of you can help. I'm trying to get back into the game but it won't start up. I recently upgraded to Windows 10. It tells me on the warchild.com screen that "Eastside Hockey Manager has stopped working." I've tried reinstalling steam and ehm multiple times as well as changing screen resolution, using the windows compatiblity, 640 by 480 screen resolution, and the disable display scaling on high dpi settings. I've also tried running as administrator. If anybody has a solution please let me know of any solutions as I'd love to play. Thanks!

I got it! In case anybody else has the same problem and is just trying to get back into the game, I looked around a little more and found something that I hadn't seen yet in that their is a folder in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\EHM\ called temporary and their are a couple old .cgi files that need to be deleted. Thanks to whoever figured this out!

My game crashes at the War Child screen... I tried this fix, but don't see any ".cgi" files.

I believe he's referring to .cfg files.

click EHM
click temporary
