I'd say Mike Babcock doesn't want a d-man who can be a defensive liability by trying something special. That's why Subban got snubbed again?

And even if they REALLY wanted another LHD, why not take Giordano, Brodie or Campbell who are actually really good D-men instead of a rapidly declining J-Bouw whose game isn't up to scratch anymore. His underlying numbers are way below average for a 1st pairing guy.
Familiarity with playing style might have a lot to do with it, especially relevant given it's a short tournament...my understanding is Bouwmeester has played together with Pietrangelo for the last four years and they were a pairing when Canada won gold in Sochi
Yeah, that's most likely the reason, and i do understand it... I just don't agree with it, in a tournament this short you should go with the best players imo, i also don't think Pietrangelo is good enough to be in the squad so there is that.

Sorry if I post again, but I think this is the best article I have translated this year, I think it's even better than Kasparaitis. Hockey Family Tales: Artemi Panarin.

Before going to sleep is the best time for reading.

I agree On my Kindle Fire, in bed, right before I go to sleep, using Flipboard is when I do most of my non-book reading anymore. I read loads of articles. I have 3 hockey feeds I read, along with 2 history, 2 gaming, and then more fun things like io9, Cracked, etc. It really is a good way to wind down before sleep. You just have to make sure you close it 5-10 min. to rest your eyes before you actually want to go to sleep or else the screen does bad things to your eyes.

On an on-topic, related note, I've found reading hockey-related news that time of night tends to annoy and aggravate me a lot less (EDIT: meaning Ken Holland's moves/lack of moves are less likely to make me want to light myself on fire. It's been yet another long, terrible offseason for DET fans).

NYI sign Seidenberg?! I don't know why they would need a D-man... but for only 1 million cap hit, why not! That's a steal!

I dno about steal, he has been pretty much awful for the last 3 years, maybe he's just been overmatched as a top-4 D-man but i dno, think he's pretty much done honestly. It's possible he can be a decent 3rd pairing guy with sheltered minutes though, for $1m it's no real risk to it though.

Yes he has been declining but still 1 mil.. that's like a free deal. :-D Good for them. 7 teams were after him so..?!
There's a lot worse D-men with over 1 mil contracts in the NHL.

Oh yeah, definitely... It's no risk at all so it's fine. Not sure there are alot worse D-men though, but there sure are more expensive ones that are similarily bad :P

And who knows, maybe he can bounce back?

He's been struggling with injuries over the last couple seasons. He was really good before that.

Yeah, he used to be good, but age and injuries has made his decline pretty steep.

He's playing for Team Europe for a reason. :-) Wouldn't have made the squad if he'd be rubbish. :-D

That's actually not true, you do know that Luca Sbisa is on that team, right? :D

The fact that player X is on team Y doesn't prove he's not bad, just sayin' :P
