Re: The British Hockey Thread 2017-18
Some brutally honest answers from Vorobyev, in particular relating to the Caps which is not so surprising given they're the smallest budget team (average attendance of approx. 800 compared to Nottingham who average 5,500), but some things like not having an organised meal before away games is inexcusable. Thanks for translating itAlessandro wrote:And in the end I have published it at THW:

It went extremely well. I had 3000+ sessions and for most of articles I get around 700-1500Calv wrote:Alessandro wrote:Wow, just wow

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2017-18
Guildford's recruitment to date makes me a bit nervous (just as it did last season and we ended up having a bad season). Hopefully we have a few big names left to announce/sign.

Someone at the Elite League has dropped the ball and put up some of the schedule already. They're supposed to be released on Friday...

The Giants signed Spiro Goulakos from Hartford/Greenville.
From what I've heard that is a very good signing for that league

He certainly looks good, with the high dependance on imports in our league the quality of the players that the teams can afford is related to the strength of the pound. Since the Brexit vote (Manimal wrote:The Giants signed Spiro Goulakos from Hartford/Greenville.

Re: The British Hockey Thread 2017-18
I watched the stream of the Sheffield - Sodertalje game this evening, pretty good game for a pre-season match. Sheffield looked rusty, after only being in training for a week - I assume Sodertalje have been in training for longer? - and made a few mistakes at the back (the first Sodertalje goal came from a big mistake from O'Connor). Overall, Steelers looked the stronger team, although they struggled at times with the speed of Sodertalje. First game of many for me this season

Sounds as though he might not even make it over there, he is seemingly under investigation for/has confessed to match fixing during the World ChampionshipsAlessandro wrote:Will you guys take care of Zakharchenko?

Will be off to my first pre-season game at the weekend MKL vs Blaze. We're playing a French team too in a week or so, so will probably miss the Guildford 'friendly' in favour of that.
Can't wait to see this MK team, glad to see we've still got some Brits recruited in addition to retaining Griff, Hook and Odrobny from last season.

Blaze should be a good test, we face them away tomorrow before Steelers home and away this weekend. Looking forward to getting the season started!marksbros6 wrote:Will be off to my first pre-season game at the weekend MKL vs Blaze. The game at Sheffield Arena is £5 to get in bargain.Calv wrote:Blaze should be a good test, we face them away tomorrow before Steelers home and away this weekend. Re: The British Hockey Thread 2017-18
What a weekend for Guildford! I was really pleased with the result at Belfast as I feared we'd get a thrashing. Whilst the Giants were all over us for much of the game, we still played really well and the scoreline was very respectable. We lack a physical presence but we have some really fast and skillful players. We seem to be particularly strong on breakaways.
Tonight's result is unreal. I can't believe we beat the Devils, let alone got eight past them. Unbelievable!
I really regret giving up my season ticket though - but it was for the best I guess. At least there are plenty of online streams.
And congrats to MK! Great result for them too!
Granted it's early in the season, but it is good for the league to have the two new teams playing competitively rather than just propping up the bottom of the league. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose more than we win, but so long as we're not getting hammered week in week out then I'm happy.
