The top priority is to build lines that work to the stregths of the players that make up that line and match that up with tactics that do the same. Your question is too broad to be answered in a poll in my opinion.

Offense doesn't matter worth a darn for a line you have put together based upon them being good defensively to play as a checking line. Ability to play defense doesn't matter much to your top scoring line. If you send either or those lines out to do each other's jobs they'll fail miserably. So it all depends on the line's role and once you have that role fixed you then need to find players that will have the best skills to match the line's role.

I totally agree with you, Minty. You've got to build each line for their role.

When I build my top two lines, I focus on speed and skills. Speed is essential in the new NHL and that holds true in EHM 2007 as well. I like my forwards on the top 2 lines to have at least a 14-15 in Speed and Acceleration. Then I look for my wingers to have a wristshot of at least 14-15. Then I look for similar (maybe a little less) Anticipation, Getting Open, Sticklhandling, and Deking. For my centers I looks for 14-15 in Passing, Creativity, Anticipation, Getting Open, and Stickhandling. Of course, I usually start off looking for higher than the 14-15's but will go lower based on availability.

Not entirely sure if the question means what should be within each line, or what type of different lines, but IMO the most important line in EHM (possible IRL too) is the checking line. Stifle the opposition's top line and you are a long way to winning. A great checking line can also be built cheaply allowing a couple of big contracts elsewhere. First thing I do at any new team is sort out line 3, the rest seems to fall into place
